WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jul 3, 2008 750 that I’ve had in the cellar for a while, I believe this came from bevmo. Shared with my gf cyn. Pours deep orange wiht a tan head. Nose is sweet and slightly acidic with hints of sourness. Taste is slightly sour with a strange oaky woodyness. Can’t say I hate but can’t say I love it either. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours brown/red with a slight haze. Big lasting head. A very clean barnyard aroma (is that an oxymoron?). Leathery is a very good adjective here. Not as sour as I was expecting, but a whole lot more aroma/flavor. Pretty light in body. Refreshing. A very nice change of pace. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 26, 2008 Lightly hazy red beer, with a lasting, foamy head - the aroma is only mildly sour, with a decent amount of cheese and barnyard funk - however, the nose has a strong character of decomposing/rotting fruits (bananas, cherries, apples) and a light phenolic quality, too (very earthy) - fairly soft in the mouth - a little funky and leathery up front, followed by a lot of over-ripe, nearly rotten fruit (oxidized banana, cherry pits and skins) - starts to get a little bit sweet as the fruit flavors develop, but a subtle acidity cuts it off, and allows the earthy, almost cheese-like flavor it starts with to manifest itself again - a bit more mellow than a lot of sour ales, but also a lot more balanced - not as complex as I was expecting, but still pretty nice. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 24, 2008 This cork and caged bottled brew from Indainapolis, IN poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent soft carbonated light brown orange colored body and an excellent lacing. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp from start to finish with a slightly acidic aftertaste. The aroma was of coriander malt hops and Ireish red type malts. The flavor contained notes of mild coriander, red malt and was tart sharp mildly acidc. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a mahogany color with a nice beigh head. Aroma of sour cherries, funk, dark berries, and some oaky notes. Flavor is tart cherries, earthy, funky, fruity, wood, sour, with a balancing dose of sweetness. Medium body with a sour ale dry finish. VERY NICE. Hank1980 (732), Athens, Georgia, USA Jun 12, 2008 On tap at Trappeze. Pours dark amber, clear, with a decent-sized off white head. Aroma of tart fruit, spice, and yeast. Taste is tart, fruit, spice, though not overly sour. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 12, 2008 750ml bottle shared with Axilla, Thanks! Poured clear amber in color with a frothy beige head which left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet, notes of cinnamon, spices and earthiness present. Taste is nicely tart and sweet, with a nice body. Cinnamon, and mild spices present as well as a slight oak taste. Quite enjoyable.
beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jun 4, 2008 On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours darker copper color with a rocky soft thin white head. Tart fruity nose, sour and moderate acidity. Hints of cherries and citrus. Not a full on lambic sourness, but a well built beer with a refreshing balance between the sweeter cherry and woody flavors up front and the tart and funky estery finish.
