Pleasant citric, bretty aroma. Flavor has notes of brett/horseyness, citric acidity, lemon, wood and blackberries. Dry finish. Medium to light body with moderate carbonation. Admittedly, I am far from an expert on this style but I found it enjoyable.

Pours hazy magenta rubyish with dark brown edges and a sizable khaki head. Nose is tart fruit, including cherry, berry, spicy yeast, some sour mashy notes, and some peaty earthy notes. Tastes crisp, tart, with cherry, red grape, and berry predominating, plus some earthy notes. Remains smooth, with the tartness not being overpowering. This one was stellar from beginning to end. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2008 750ml bottle. Murky rusty brown and red colored body with a tan head. Peppered fruit, cedar wood, pears, white grapes, bing cherries and an oak barrel tannic quality, with a decent amount of sharp funkiness in the aroma. Fruity and tart throughout, with a resinous oak and cedar wood flavor, a mostly sweet (fruit sweet) flavor, lots of pears, oranges, red cherries, grapes, all in there with a tart and prickly and peppery sour yeast flavor. Really quite good, unexpectedly good... I don’t really find any flaws in a beer like this - a mildly tart and mildly sour Flemish red, with a bouquet fruit sugars... it’s really all you can ask for. Must, funk and some vinegar. Pour was a nice murky brown with a one finger off white head.Taste was very nice. Sour cherries, barnyard floor, and brett are up front with a tangy vinegar like finish. Not mouth puckering, but very delicious. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2008 750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Rich reddish brown pour, lively body with an active carbonation that produces a modest head and decent retention. Nice nose of sour cherries and dark berries, a lustrous Flemish red aroma that’s midway between the almost-syrupy Duchesse and the sublime NGBR and Selin’s Grove Kriek. Thick and rich palate, with some wood and funk in there, and some sour bite along with just the right degree of tangy hops in there. Delish. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2008 Bottle at WBF in Raleigh (nearly my last beer!!!). Pours mahogany, with a off-white head. Aroma is fruity, sour. Tastes similar, with cherries and green apple. Not as good as the New Glarus last year, but very tasty. durhambeer (1202), Durham, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 27, 2008 First tasting at World Beer Fest in Raleigh, from a bottle. Almost ruined the rest of the day for me! This was good stuff... red/brown dark, turgid pour. Off-white gauzy head with slight pink tint. Nose of cherries and sour wood. Sour, creamy, fruity (cherries) and wood on the taste buds. Nice bit of spice and funk, too, but not over the top. A little think on the palate. Overall, I loved it, and went back for more.
