Tosa Tasting ala CaptainCougar. Dark copper color with a moderate big bubbled ecru head. Decent lacing. Mild barnyard yeast with candied fruit underneath. Sweet malt and mild acidic start. Middle is filled with orange cream and cherry lollipops. Mild unripe fruit bite late that helps clear the candy flavors away. Very drinkable and interesting. Congrats on the 1500th Tom!

Pours a beautiful amber color with mahogany edges, light smoky head with decent impartial lacing. The nose is very fresh yet tart with fruit; berry, sugar and funky and tart beutiful floral characteristics. The flavor has a moderate body and a fairly normal malt aftertaste. The tartness is there along with the fresh belgian yeast and fruity hops but it’s much more realistic than the fantasy nose. The tail is good however and makes up for the lack of respect and leaves a long, but good, impression. Very tasty beverage.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy copper color with a moderate fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium sour citrus flavor with a sweet smooth finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer with spicy food.

Bottle from State Line. Pours hazy magenta rubyish with dark brown edges and a sizable khaki head. Nose is tart fruit, including cherry, berry, spicy yeast, some sour mashy notes, and some peaty earthy notes. Tastes crisp, tart, with cherry, red grape, and berry predominating, plus some earthy notes. Remains smooth, with the tartness not being overpowering. This one was stellar from beginning to end.

Orange amber ale with a thin creamy white head. Classic duchesse de bourgogne aroma,, with cherries and a bit of barnyard. Intense sour cherries in mouth with ich cremy mouthfeel. An earthy beer. Bought at Sams Wine in Chicago. 8.99. Enjoyed at YEHa!05 Christmas Party on Dec. 17th, 2005.

Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly yeasty (mold), with notes of grape juice (Welch’s?), vinegar, and raisins. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lighlty to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

750 ml bottle, sourly enjoyed with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere. Dark dirty cherry color with lightly colored head...sweet and sour cherries in the nose, lots of barnyard...in the body, sour to vinegariness, spicy, a bit cardboardy and "flat" flavorwise compared to the best in the style, but cherry-wine flavor is strong throughout, carbonation is good and authenticity is there.

Aroma of cherry and yeast (out of the wine fridge). Lots of beige head that lasts. Red cherry wood color. Tastes of sour, cherry, wood, yeast, earth. Hops dance lightly; very lightly. Definitely not sweet. The finish is lightly sour with fruit, and any bitterness is slight. A sipping drink. The cherry seems to enhance as the liquid warms.
