goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 2, 2005 Poured a lightly hazed depp orange with a medium cream colored head that quickly dissolved to a thin layer that persisted until the drink was finished. The aroma was dry and funky. Smelled like dry poop, dehydrated fruit and leather as it warmed.. Notes of dirty hay were also present. This was tasted with the Panil and La Folie and this had the funkiest aroma of the three. Flavor was dry woody with tart fruit. Less fruit than the others.
hisskirt (5), California, USA does not count Nov 8, 2009 This beer pairs really well with air-dried sausage, a nice addition to a plate of salumi. Red-gold in color, pleasant dove-white head. In a tulip glass the aromas are green apple, guava, yeast and caramel. Just as its name says, it’s sweet-sour at the same time. Toffee aftertaste. Lively carbonation. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2009 Reddish color with a nice foamy white head. The smell is fruits, tart, funk, wood, and some sweetness. The taste is funk, wood, sweet, tart, and fruits. Some toffee. I was impressed by this beer. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Sep 21, 2009 Thin off-white head forms over a murky brown brew that looks much like an apple cider that is beginning to ferment.
Tart apple aroma, some barnyard.
Extreme vinegar notes that fade a bit as the tongue becomes accustomed.
A bit sharp at first.
Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA Sep 17, 2009 Deep auburn with a large foamy beige head. Strong cherry aroma coupled with some mustiness and wood. Taste is lots of oak and sour tartness with some underlying sweetness. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with more residual tartness. Interesting and good. BeerBaby (62), , Tennessee, USA Sep 11, 2009 Color is a muddy amber with a small, lively style head. Aroma is a sour, fruity, flavor is similar to sour grapes, body is a medium with lively carbonation. Not my favorite sour beer, but it was drinkable. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Aug 24, 2009 Bottle pours a reddish copper with a white head. Aroma is sour, malty, and a bit of salty brine. Flavor is light sour, wood, and sour apple. thirdeye11 (403), Texas, USA Aug 21, 2009 鼮ml) Pours a clear amber brown with 1 finger fluffy white head and small tight bubbles. Nose is brett, fig, fruity, funky, and jerky. The beer is sweet and malty, some fruits and spices, finishes very dry, velvety carbonation and really leaves a nice sweetness behind. This is the best De Proef beer I’ve had by far. scrizzz (1248), kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 21, 2009 Muddy mousey brown, flat tan head. Somewhat washed out aroma of a wood aged sour. Faint. Fairly sweet for a sour with a firm wood character. Good transition sour once Duchesse doesn’t seem tart anymore before you drink La Folie. Dry oak finish. Way too easy to drink since it lacks anything bracing.
