Bottle pours clear read with nice head. Aroma is sour fruits and berry. Taste is the same, decent for $7.

Bottle from Spirits Crossroads. Pours out a ruby red color with a small tan head. Aroma is of nice sour tartness, light sweet cherries, funk. Taste is tart, acidic funk, sweet cherries, light mothballs, medicinal fruit, lingering sweetness with some tart sour notes that come in with the finish. Nice beer.

A very nice fruity aroma with some earthiness from a murky reddish brown pour with an extremely thin head. The flavor is fruity sweet and Brett sour at the same time. Nicely dry and refreshing.

Bottled. Warning: Must use pliers to open. Ridiculous plastic cork. On to the elixir. Honestly, it’s a toss up. I want to like this but there are some unappealing tomato-y elements on the nose. Dank cherry, assorted dark fruits and hearty yeast, but it also seems rather complex. The flavor matches the aroma. Med-light sweet, medium body, average carbonation, and a fruit and yeast finish.

Aroma of tart cherries, stilton cheese and slight citronella. Pours hazy red with a big frothy head. Taste is tart cherries, slight cranberry and a sour bread. Very light in the mouth. Great sour.

750 ml bottle. Pours hazy reddish amber with a smallish creamy white head that goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is tart sour cherries and some funky yeast with a little wood.

The flavor is sweet sugary cherries with a little sour tartness. There are some acidic cardboard notes and a bit of an odd finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, it’s almost good. Too sweet with odd off-notes.

Pours beautiful red chestnut with fizzing head. Nose with hints of over-rip apple. Light and effervescent on the tongue with immediate tangy cherry moving to toasty and nutty base and finishing with lemon and tartar. Nicely done.

Mouth puckering sour tartness takes the lead by a slim margin over the brettomyces funk and cedar plank flavors. Some lighter berry notes come through with some strawberries and sour cherries. Earthy in it’s own way with some of the caramely malt sweetness making an appearance as it warms a bit. Wonderful sour beer.

Brouwerij (501) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Pours an opaque red brown with a half finger of quickly settling tan head and significant, thin lacing. Aroma is tart, cherry/berry, oak, vinous. Flavor is mildly tart and builds slightly, with cherry and stone fruit tones. Finishes slightly oaky and sour-sweet. Soft carbonation, medium body, smooth, slick mouthfeel, and a relatively dry finish. The cherry is very noticeable but not overbearing (unlike Liefman’s Cuvee Brut). Nice balance of tart and fruit tones with lively carbonation and mouthfeel. A very tasty beer.

Vinous, earthy, woody, and fruity and disappointingly lacking in the style’s sourness... this ale is good - not great. Also, it was nearly flat as well as somewhat stale tasting and it may have been on the shelve too long at Oliver T’s in Grand Blanc, MI.
