2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft: Brown crimson. Slightly rocky dirty-white head. Aroma lined with plums, roasted nuts, mashed dates, and biscuits. Prickly, mouth-filling carbonation. Initially toasty with a bed of grains and soft nuttiness. Firm hazelnut flavors diminish as the malts become huskier, but a leathery yeast note scratches the palate and adds another dimension of flavor. Notably dry with lightly roasted malt hulls which seemingly boost the dryness. Finishes cleanly attenuated, but perhaps a touch too dry and chalky which eventually stifles the refined nutty richness. Passable and that’s about it.
