3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tasted as Zonderik Dubbel Donker, since 2009. Light beige, creamy head over a dark bronze, misty beer. Aroma of nutty malts, liquorice, coriander, bitter chocolate, cloves, candied dates, some DMS. Dryish taste, nutty maltiness, strong carbo, lots of coriander, creamy finish with some solvents and some roasted bitterness, as well as a late and brief herbal hoppiness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle At Barely Legal Tasting Room . Note ; Previously rated mistakingly under the blonde variation . Moved rating 1 month after , when I finally realized this .
Pours dark brown , with a bordeaux glow. good yet fast fading white head .
Smell is dark malts, bit sweet , complex, earthy ,
Taste is bit bitter, some sweetness . interesting flavors in the back ( would have liked them more up front ) like dark fruits, hop bitter ( the bitterness that dominates the taste is not really hoppy per se ) an almost chocolaty finish- yet not completely . The taste is a bit comparable to chocolate, but it is different . Maybe one of those descibed ingredients that I dont really know ?
Ok to nice beer . bit ordinary cause the special tastes are way to much hidden in the back .

Typical Belgian brown beer. Yeasty and quite malty, with the usual fruits and herbs. It’s nice and enjoyable, but far from original.
