Bottle Thanks to Gunther Bench. Pours a dark mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of caramelize malts, dry dark fruits, with hints of hops. Taste of caramel malts, brown sugars, coffee, herbs, earthy. Sweet and light bitterness. Medium carbonation, with long lasting taste. With strong caramel and coffee taste finish. Very nice brew, very tasty.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 04/09/2014. Dark brown, slight ruby hue, small off-white head. Sweet caramel, thick dark fruits, candy sugar, slight liquorish, sweet spices, very sweet, liquid brown sugar caramel malts smell overall. Taste is dried dark fruits, cocoa powder & chocolate, very sweet caramel & toffee malts, light coffee & oodles of melted candy sugar, Oily, caramel malts but not thick or anything mouthfeel. Makes me think more of a light Barley Wine than a BSDA. This should be rated higher & better known, really good stuff.

Bottle from Beer Planet, Brussels
Dark amber color, almost brown, with huge head. Peculiar aroma, some roasted malt, dark malts, phenol, aniseed. Too much carbonation, with a slim body, chocolate flavor, dates (that’s never a favorite element), medium to low bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2012 Dark beer with nose of chocolat, honey, coffee. Bittersweet aftertaste. But also a very strange caramel taste.

(Bottled, BBE 02/2012) Murky dark brown with a medium, firm and lacy head. Sourish-caramely maltiness and spicy-meaty feel in the nose, with a touch of oak. Flavor is like strongly spiced quadrupel, slightly thin when cold, but without alcohol presence. Anise is immediately present, but caraway comes with warming. Spiciness is slightly harsh and stingy, but if there was too much sweetness when fresh, it has settled by now. Medium+ body, slightly fizzy CO2. The most beery one of Zonderik/X series, but also the least interesting.
