3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Deep plum color with only wisps of film on top. Aroma is sweet... I can’t find a good way to describe dunkels and its frustrating. They aren’t roasty, they aren’t smokey, they aren’t alcoholic, they aren’t nutty, they aren’t chocolaty. Even reading other ratings don’t help. Its pleasant and sweet.

Bottle. Brown with no head. Nose is very malty. Flavor is equally malty. Didn’t get much of the chocolate others mention. Just lots of malt. Easy drinking, but not my style.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Ledgers Liquor. 4.7% Pours dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a mix of chocolate and veg - like anis. Medium body with sharp fizzy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, malt and a touch of anise. Rather dry in the finish. It’s a different flavor palate from most dunkels. More a sipper than a guzzler. Develops a coffee touch with time.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown red hue with a small light tan head that lasts only a minute. Aroma is faint but offers some chocolate and roasted malt. A bit of coffee in the flavor along with some unmalted barley and a hint of anise. It is dry and just a bit earthy but flavor, like the aroma, is faint. The excite-o-meter barely twitches with this one.
