3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Ledgers Liquor. 4.7% Pours dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a mix of chocolate and veg - like anis. Medium body with sharp fizzy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, malt and a touch of anise. Rather dry in the finish. It’s a different flavor palate from most dunkels. More a sipper than a guzzler. Develops a coffee touch with time.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2009 Bottle from Big Lots!. Deep ruby in color on the pour. Sweet chocolate aroma. Smells like a Tootsie Roll. Good chocolate flavors, along with a bit of maltiness. Not very roasty. Smooth mouth feel. Pretty tasty.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown red hue with a small light tan head that lasts only a minute. Aroma is faint but offers some chocolate and roasted malt. A bit of coffee in the flavor along with some unmalted barley and a hint of anise. It is dry and just a bit earthy but flavor, like the aroma, is faint. The excite-o-meter barely twitches with this one.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is dark with a little head of tan color. This is supposed to taste like pralines, but I did not get that, but I did get some toffee and chocolate.

Bottle. Dark chestnut, creamy brown layer on top. Fairly vineous nose on chocolate, like booze-filled pralines. Milk chocolate flavor base, light orange, a hint juniper.
Medium to light body. A hint roast retronasal. Decent.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The bottle that I picked up at the Friar Tuck in Bloomington, IL, listed this as 4.7% ABV. It poured a deep, clear reddish brown with a creamy, sustained ecru head that provided plenty of lace. It smelled of sweet wort and caramel and tasted pretty much the same but stopped just short of being cloying. Not bad.
