COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

50cl bottle pours with a dark amber body that supports an off white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up sort of roasted malt notes, sort of chocolate malts and then some nuttiness followed by a touch of sweet dark fruity esters. The taste begins with a mix of sweet malts, nuttiness and slivers of chocolate malts. It then quickly picks up prunes and raisins as the modest chocolate note moves forward. Pretty nice stuff.

Bottle:   Deep ruby, brownish hues, moderate to thin off-white head, spotty lacing.   Biscuity nose, and oddly enough a slight hint of corn tortilla.   Malty tongue, slightly bready, even a little sweet.   Not half bad.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering soft bready malts after the finish.   Better than I was expecting.

Bottle. Dark chestnut, creamy brown layer on top. Fairly vineous nose on chocolate, like booze-filled pralines. Milk chocolate flavor base, light orange, a hint juniper. Medium to light body. A hint roast retronasal. Decent.

Cornfield (5437) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - NOV 19, 2008
The bottle that I picked up at the Friar Tuck in Bloomington, IL, listed this as 4.7% ABV. It poured a deep, clear reddish brown with a creamy, sustained ecru head that provided plenty of lace. It smelled of sweet wort and caramel and tasted pretty much the same but stopped just short of being cloying. Not bad.

Bottle. My label states this to be 4.7% ABV. Copper pour. Sturdy, slightly rocky, tan head. Nose is sweet malts, toffee, soft spicy hops, and dark fruit. Taste is slightly more hoppy with creamy malts, light toffee, dark fruit and yeast notes. Some dark bready flavors as well. Body is light-medium and has a strong but slick carbonation. Not overly bubbly. Ends with more dark fruits, bread notes, spicy hops, and toffee. Toasty malts come through as well.
