COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(bottle - 330 ml) Clear amber pour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, and a light nutty hint. Flavor is lightly toasted at the beginning with a lightly nutty caramel followup. Middle has some lightly roasted coffee notes. Finishes dry and lightly bitter with a mild lingering nut flavor.

Brown amber with a thin froth cover. Easy malt ball aroma with some light roastiness translates to a similar flavor profile with some additional toastiness. Barely medium-bodied. May have appeal to crossover macro brew drinkers with its easy-bodied and toastiness.

The head is medium, the body redbrown. The taste is interesting, malty but a bit musty. Medium 7/8/8/8/10/8

Bottle from big lots. Poured an auburn/brown color. Not much head. Aroma was quite nice; caramel, cocoa, nuts, bread, earth and sweet malt. Flavor was solid, but not quite as layered. Soft and smooth on the palate. Sweet, caramel and nuts with a short finish. Ok overall.

.5L bottle - Shared w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Toom Getränke in Kaiserslautern. Pours a deep dark brown. Aromas of roasted malts, smoke, and hints of fruit. Flavors of the roasted malts, some fruit, with a coffee aftertaste.

08-Mar-10 (330-ml bottle: Purchased 09-Feb-10 for $3.99 at Ledger’s Liquor in Berkeley, CA) This pleasant German dunkel pours a rich, clear, medium-brown body and a one inch foam cap that is dark-tan in color and shows good retention, slowly settling to a thin, but complete layer. The nose is very malty with dark bread, light earthiness, milk chocolate and some nuttiness. Fairly bready on the palate, with chocolate, lightly sweet cocoa, toast and nuts, and a hint of grassy hops in the finish. The beer is showing signs of some mild oxidation, enough to be distracting, but not enough to render the beer undrinkable. The oxidation, however, is not the beer’s fault. Light-medium in body, gentle carbonation, and some dryness in the finish. Some spotty lace on the glass. A decent beer, easy to drink and fairly straight forward.

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured brown with a white head. Rye bread aroma, some caramel. Flavor similar, rye bread and some roasted notes. Smooth palate with some caramel in a long finish. Quite nice.

Gorgeous dark copper pour, with a small eggshell head. A great dark, slightly fruit malt nose. Upfront breads and cereals, with a slight nutiness. The mouth feel is perfect, and the carb is soft and pleasant. The finish is lightly bitter, but still quite malty with notes of caramel, more breads and sweet nutty malts. Its a dialed back doppelbock, and i love it. Super drinkable, great beer.

its nice and refreshing malty, although its thin on the palate front. slight caramel and toffee, good for having after work.

Pours dark brown. Mild toasty nutty flavor up front. Water palate, not a very crisp estery finish, more watery caramel flavor. Decent, but didn’t stand out.
