2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 maupie (885) - Roosendaal, NETHERLANDS - APR 10, 2004
This beer has a red body - hue apperance and a fine light red scum collar. I have drunk the beer from the bottle and it had a low carbonic acid. The initial flavor taste is between sweet and light acid.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - JAN 28, 2004
Chestnut with some red, little head. Aroma is very faintly of old, musty sour cherries, but not in an appetizing way. Flavor is bland, a little malty, faint hint of sourness. This beer never quite seems to realize it is even in the glass. Sad to say that I lugged this loser all the way back from Belgium. But hey, I bought it in a supermarket on a whim for the sole reason I had never heard of it. What could I expect?
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (22906) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 4, 2004
The aroma is sweet malty with notes of grain and caramel. The color is brown and it has a fine light brown head though fast collapsing. The flavor is very sweet malty with strong caramel notes and a somewhat sour end. But not nearly as sour as I had hoped for taking the style into account. This is not a special beer in anyway but it is OK though.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6428) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 28, 2003
Colour of Coca-Cola; head idem ditto, and not more stable. Nose starts with chalk, bit nutty, brown bread, ending in buttermilk. Very bready taste again, with a lactic aroma retronasal, sourish palate. Watery, thinnish texture. Very plain, unremarkable. doesn't even come near the real Oud Bruin style, or the old Anglo-Belge on which it is based. A dark, lactic lager.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 SteC (128) - Oostende, BELGIUM - SEP 5, 2003
This one has virtually no head, it should be named more something like 'tafelbier'. The taste is ok, but too weak. Seems like I don't like beers like these.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Linc (736) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUN 1, 2003
Dark with a smallish head, sour/brett aroma. Sour fruity grape/plum flavour. Thin acidic finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 caesar (3722) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2003
Served pretty cold, which made the head die quickly. Dark ruby color. Tart aroma of cherries. Decent flemish sour.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jerohen (1775) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2003
May 2003 (BB 1998). Dark red-brown coloured, small head. Typical flemish sour ale aroma, sour and fruity, very good. Not as full-flavoured as i was hoping for. Very watery finish.
