Le Trappiste in Bruges. Pours a nice deep amber colour, quite hazy with a creamy tan head. Subtle aroma of apricots, peaches, and yeast. Taste is moderately sweet, no real bitterness and nothing overpowering about it, somewhat bland. Soft/smooth mouth feel, average carbonation, and light-medium body. Good beer.

This beer really is magnificent. It’s more then worth to this to be called a trappist. This is world class!!!

bottle. Cloudy red-amber with large bubbly head. Yeast, raisins, dark fruit, boozy. Like a cross between a tripel and dubbel.

Shared a 33cl bottle. Pours an orangish light amber colour with a thin white head. Malt, caramel, fruit and floral hops in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is light (probably because it was a bit cold) but more sweet than bitter. Overall, I was expecting more from a trappist but at least is not like the others.

Prettig wegdrinkende trappist. Geen bijzondere trappist, wel lekker.

To put it in a nutshell, good beer but not the outstanding beer I was accustomed to get from a trappist.

Hazy orange with a medium white head. Medium body with medium to high carbonation. Sweet with a bitter hoppy finish. Citrus, orange, herbs and some spices.

A very beautiful beer, a colour is dark, reddish yellow, a head is big, clouding and blond. The nose has fruits, nice spices, some orange and citrusfruits, not totally dry. Taste has fruits, oranges, lots of spices, citrusfruity sourness and freshness. Medium bodied, high carbonation. The new trappist is born. Typical, fruity and spicy tripel. Good beer but there isn’t a mystic of trappist.

The second trappist brand in the Netherlands, easily available in Belgium as well. Yellowish, creamy, sticky, mousse-like head, pure amber colour, misty after addition of the ’fond’; aroma of apricots, curaçao, calvados, caramel, yeast, some old ’jenever’, dry leaves, mango, jute; taste nicely fruity, orange, grapefruit and peach, relatively sharp carbonisation, vivid, tender caramel-like and nutty maltiness, spicy yeastiness, ever becoming dryer and more bitter towards the end with peppery and even very slightly tonic water-like hops, ending in a well-balanced yeastiness with just a hint of calvados-like, warming alcohol. Still lacks some of the ’pride’ and character of the big Belgian trappist brands, but not bad, not bad at all.
