COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zure Van Tildonk is an original Belgian Sour Ale from Farm-Brewery Hof Ten Dormaal. With this beer, the brewery strived to create a special, spontaneoussly-fermented beer via traditional methods using ambient yeast from the brewery-farm in Tildonk. Each batch of Zure van Tildonk is carefully aged in the cellars of Engelburch Monastery for several months prior to release.

375 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a hazy apricot with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells funky and mildly tart with a bit of pleasantly stinky cheese as well. Tastes like it smells, along with some oak and what seems like a mild vinous presence. Pleasant on the palate with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Good beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Muddy yellow with small off-white head. The aroma is yeasty, socks, sweat, fruity (pear, peach), bubble gum. Sweet-sour flavor, yeasty, white wine, somewhat lager-ish, light bitterness, candy, unripe fruit, green tomato, dry sour finish, quite alcoholic. Light carbonation, medium-bodied.

Bottle sample at a Beer And Beyond sour beers tasting at their shop. Cloudy golden with a wite head. Funky aroma with fruitiness, earth, vinous notes and dirty socks. Sour flavor, funky, fruity, slightly vinous and a bit boozy with a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

An enjoyable light sour blonde ale. Perfect accompanying a rich steak dinner or other such offering. Lemony zest mingles with an undertone of barnyard funk. Very well balanced overall. Quite a good entry level sour

Bottle. Pours a lively golden beer. Earthy aroma of tart. Taste is mildly sour, with a note of horseblanket, apple and oak. Doesn’t last long. Reminds me of a tardy cider.

Bottle @ Pat’s. Hazy golden pour with a white head. Sugar, honey, and lemon zest on the nose. Smells kind of metallic and soapy, too, though. Maybe a bit corked? The flavor is fairly sour, but there’s a whole lot of sugar character. Somewhat stale tasting, too. A bit metallic. Grass, some lemon zest, and a bit of white vinegar. Meh.

Pours golden yellow with a trace white head. Aroma is earthy, brett, hay and citrus. Taste is lactic tartness with some citric sweetness. Light bodied, crisp abrupt finish and overall good but certainly not great.
