I didnít cringe when I tried this sample like I saw some others do, but itís not my favorite IPA. The bitterness is harsh, not really any citrusy hops or anything to balance it out. If you want a straight up bitter beer this is a good choice.

Poured an orange color with aromas of citrus and some light pine. Flavors are hops and citrus with some mandarin orange. Light carbonation easy drinker thanks Beau for the growler.

ContemplateBeer (1580) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Aroma of moderate citrus/grapefruit, caramel and light nuts. Appearance is cloudy dark orange with sticky tan head. Flavor has some astringent bitterness up front which becomes more subtle as the malt shows up; the finish is very dry. Palate is medium, creamy and soft. Good, but could use a bit of brightening up to compete with most of todayís IPAs.

Tap at source: Pours cloudy amber with a short tan head. Scent is strongly fruited. Taste is sweet, grapefruit hops. Slightly sticky.

Tap at brewery. Caramel malt and orange aroma. Amber with a small off-white head. Sweet orange and caramel malt flavor. Very malt forward. Medium Body, soft carbonation.

Clear medium amber, good head cover and sheets of lace. Taste is clean malt, joined deep in the palate by flowery hops that balance things splendidly. Good brew; I doubt that it really 65 IBU, bit doesnít matter when it works so well. Recommended.

Draft. Cloudy amber body with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus and orange juice. Notes of grapefruit, caramel, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery turning creamy texture, soft carbonation. Lots of malt in this IPA and some of it is dusty, grainy. Tends to muddle the sweet citrus and bitter grapefruit.

Pours amber with just a slight haze. Nose is resinous hops, sticky greens, toaste malts. Flavor is very resinous hop oils, pines, and light citrus with a pronounced caramel and toasted malt character. Dry bitter finish. The hop aroma and flavor was much more intense and pleasant in the Columbus pale ale. This was overly piney and resinous. meh

A decent ipa. Really easy to drink with a soapy finish. Smells hoppy and no citrus aroma. Had in a bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft to. Taster at ZwanzigZ. Looks solid; a semi-transparent orange with foamy off-white head. Smells and tastes solid; balanced hops with a pale malt backbone. Average on the palate. A decent IPA.
