3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeinEscazú (1324) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - NOV 20, 2012
Strange and intriguing dark ale, not as sweet as I expected but rather off-dry (as was the Witte). Some of that cocoa and roast balances the lighter sweetness. Relatively clean profile allows the chocolate to come through in the aroma. Drinkable and interesting.

I got this one @ Inter-pol in the Belgian Ardennes. Nice smoot taste, bready texture, medium body. Not overy complex, but a good drinking milk stout.
Not overly special, but there is also nothing wrond with it.

Very creamy head with a little greyish sheen, fluffy, over dark brown beer with reddish reflections. Nuts and sesame oil, very markedly; soy saus, suggesting mild sweetness. Dry, charcoal-like, spinach, and a marked finish of liquorice. Ends on sweetish lactic. Medium bodied, slick. I like this, the more as milk stout counts as an endangered species. I caught the lactose, but not the cacao powder.
