   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 11/20
Erzengel (2561) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - DEC 23, 2013

Bottle. Deep Amber with a thin head. Aroma is smoked caramel. Flavour is light smoked bacon with some caramel on the palate. Finish is lingering smoke

Koelschtrinker (10480) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 3, 2011
Test vom 29.4.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,8,9,7,11,7

ogivlado (5666) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JAN 6, 2011
Bottled 330ml. -trade with kappldav123 (thanks David!)
Darker amber coloured, small white head that went away fast, dusty smokey and caramel nose. Slight roasted malt, caramel and some smoke with flowery and mild spicy notes. A bit thin but never mind, it’s average German smoked beer.

Marko (3912) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - DEC 21, 2010
Bottle that ogivlado got in a trade, with kappldav I guess and shared with me (thanks and thanks!). Poured a cola-like brown/black/red body with an off white head. Light smokey nose, some light soy sauce, roast, rosehip and caramel. Dryish. Light background smoke in the taste, rosehip vs. caramel mix, interesting. Nice maltiness, freshm not too hoppy. Some bacon. A very good light smoked.

Embrouille (2827) - SWITZERLAND - MAY 11, 2010
Bottled 33cl. Courtesy of kappldav123. It pours a clear nut brown beer with a small, bubbly, quick diminishing light beige head. Wort, gone-off peanuts, petrol, wormwood and a huge amount of patato and stuffy sitting room in the nose where some lovely chocolate, luscious malt, smoke and salty crackers manage to sneak in. Smells a bit like a garage. A lot of patato, marzipan and wormwood in the taste. Strange. Spicy, medium bodied and malt accented. Subtle carboantion. Low bitterness. Not much lacework. Remarkably spicy on the swallow. (Reminiscence of wormwood). Patato present again in the finish which is spicy, chocolatey and rather interesting with plenty of character. Residual sugars detectable. Good balance throughout. Different. Thanks a lot kappldav123!

omhper (19320) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - DEC 25, 2009
Bottled. Clear mahoganycolour, brief head. Mild beechwood smoke mixes with ripe strawberries. Mid-dry with light body and clean mouthfeel. A mild pleasant smokiness prevails, not rivalled by much hops nor bitterness. Not much depth, but the smoke flavour is really pleasant.

bierkoning (10157) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - OCT 25, 2009
Bottle from Kappldav123, thanks! Brown color. Smoked cheese, sausage and beechwood in the aroma. Malty smoked sausage flavor with hints of mango and pear. Lovely!

fonefan (34741) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 1, 2009
Bottle 33cl.
Clear light to medium brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sugar, smoke - bacon smoke. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090621]

Bottled@Fonefan. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is smoked wood, some quite baconlike notes as well. Flavour is tar and smoke along with some caramel as well. A bit to the sweeter side of the smoked Germans.
