4oz pour at Churchkey’s Night of the Living Ales 2014. Pours a murky gold with lots of sudsy, lacing white head. Nose is cool, loads of spice, juniper, wood shavings, cedar especially, spruce, white pepper, soap, dried lemon peel. Flavor follows right along, herbal, juniper, mild pepper, straw, a little white flour. Finishes soapy and surprisingly creamy. Really unique.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a cloudy, orange color, with a presentable layer of white, frothy head foam, and some wavy cling to the lacing. The aroma was sour, with fruit and spice, a touch of juniper berry, and some vinous nature to the nose. Light bodied? A combination of the tartness and a lingering, earthy bitterness projected a stronger heft to the body than was actually present. Lively carbonation also helped to propel the flavor notes well. Impressive complexity for a 4.2% brew!

Poured from a growler by the campfire. Pale golden with a finger of tight white fizz. Nose was beautiful, juniper, gin, peppercorn, lemongrass, pine needles, clean pilsner malt, wet oak. The palate was bright and vibrant, complex yet crushable. Wow, nice fizzy mouthfeel with complex layers but clean and refreshing as well !

On tap at OEC. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of light tartness/funkiness, some gin and oak and wine, some pale malts, light caramel notes, hints of alcohol, and some light spices/earthy notes. Flavor the same. Average texture. A cool beer but the gin isn’t for me.

Draft. Sour citrus nose with a little pine , golden yellow color, taste is a short sour, and a clean finish. This beer is light and doesn’t linger too long which actually makes the beer for me. The aging does not dominate the experience making it very pleasant.
