Light clear gold in color, huge white head and decent lace, nose is malt, the front is malt and a bit sweet, the top light, the finish is lightly hopped, crisp and clean, dry, acidic, and as I always say ’To Light’, but it is another beer on my wat to ’5000’.

Drank a bunch of this when I first moved to Polish section of Brooklyn. Maybe too much because now it taste a little too sweet to me. Still a great beer with some Krajana or any other Polish sausage.

Smooth pilsner, a little bitter for my taste.

I knew little of Polish brewing other than my first porter in Krakow 8 years ago, so this Polish pilsner was something of a surprise. It’s another one of those beers that fellow reviewers seem to have been a little harsh upon just because of what it is (boring compared to the porter? most pilsners are). The looks are great with a little haze and a perfect resilient white foam. Aroma is equally promising, fresh with fragrant hops, hints of honey and spice. A fruity malt tip makes a great intro, while the hops provide a nice crisp finish and a bitterness that lingers well along with hints of oak in the aftertaste. I might buy this one again. As for the temp indicator on the bottle: I can usually tell if it’s the right temperature just by wrapping my hand around it.

Maybe I had a bad bottle? This stuff was beyond awful! Skunky smell, putrid taste, I couldn’t get halfway through the bottle.

slightly sweet, nice on occasion, but not something that one would want on a regular basis-sweetness is almost a little gimicky.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2004 ok this is bland, sweet, underbittered yellow swill lager, you know that already, but it does have a decent amount of bready malt, and a peculiar resiny/spicy/lemony/fruity hop flavour. so... good points, but in the end, it's still a bit too bland.

I thought Zywiec was alright. Not the kind of lager I am usually accustomed to, but it was alright. The aroma reminded me of cereal. Kind of like Honey Bunches of Oats.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2007 Bottle (BB 12/07). Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of soap and DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Quite industrial.

Good lager. Quite average in all respects: medium aroma, average hoppiness, but has a ’woody’ quality that puts it above the average. Almost like it was aged in oak barrels.
