3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 RolkaNation (86) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - FEB 2, 2011
Bottle picked up for just $2 at a small Euro Deli in Palm Coast, FL. Poured a deep dark brown (near black) with a finger thick tan, creamy head. Aroma was surprisingly light with notes of caramel malt sweetness. Taste was intensely roasty and bitter with a nice body. Taste vs. aroma is quite the difference. Finish is extremely dry and metallic. Great overall.

This took me by surprise. A great tasting beer and a wonderful example of a baltic Porter. One of the best bargains in the world of beer. Problem is, I cannot find it in my area.

This is a great Baltic Porter. Lots of alcohol, but you can’t necessarily taste it.

A quality hot, sweet baltic porter from Poland. Thick bodied. Heavy on the molasses, with a robust alcohol burn in the swallow. Delighted to see this reach Australian shores after we’d been fobbed up with the brewer’s inferior lagers for so many years. (330ml bottle from Leura Cellars)

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2011 Bottle, pours brown with moderate tan head. Cocoa and dark malt (light to no fruity esters)aroma. Flavors of dark malt (light fruity esters) and cocoa and coffee with noble hop bitter balance in medium body, slight astringent alcohol warmth in finish.

Date: 4/18/2010 Source:Other BJCP study session. Licorice anise and dark fruits in aroma. No hop aroma. Very dark brown with tan head. Moderate caramel. Some restrained roast and chocolate notes. Medium to full body and mouth feel. Smooth with some warmth and well carbonated. Big beer, not a lot of roast and dark fruits prevalent.

Pored from a 330ml bottle. Pours pitch black with thick long lasting head which leaves a nice lacing. A strong aroma containing chocolate, coffee and roasted nutty notes :). Taste is similar to the aroma but with a warming alcohol to it. Body is medium with a syrupy texture. overall a loverly beer.

Jet black with ample and creamy tan head. Strong aromas emerge after taking the cap off: tobacco and bread. Bitter, oily with a very dry finish. My second tasting a Polish Baltic Porter; the other being okocim which is sweeter and more ot my liking.
