3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 matmatmat (82) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 6, 2011
Pours a beautiful dark coffee color with a caramel colored head. Aroma is sweet with hints of chocolate, nuts and warm bread. Taste was odd....first few sips had an overpowering metallic "pennies in your mouth" feel. Balanced out after that, however, and came through with great heavy sweetness a light bitterness and plenty of chocolate in the finish.
Great Porter.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 frankenkitty (1953) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2011
Pours a deep caramel brown beneath a huge, creamy, long-lasting mocha head. Bittersweet and milk chocolate aroma with a punch of dark fruit, a thin layer of cake dough and a whiff of ABV. There is an odd burnt/metallic tinge to the flavor (which I blame on Continental hopping), but the base is semi-sweet chocolate syrup with coffee roasts and a splash of spiced rum. Full-bodied, almost sticky... wholly satisfying on a chill January evening. I remember this being a top-rated Baltic Porter about 5 years ago, and it being very difficult to find at the time. I recently ran across a goodly amount of bottles at several local bottle shops, so I’m guessing production and exports have stepped up a notch. ~~~~~~~~~ Pint bottle from Bridgeview Liquors, Bridgeview, IL

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ComradeK (466) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - DEC 23, 2010
330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a creamy yellow-beige head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. The nose has some typical porter or stout character, with hints of chocolate, cream and coffee. Oddly enough, there is the merest hint of slightly charred steak in there too. Sounds odd, but that’s what I get. There is a brief hit of peppery hops to start, sliding smoothly into a creamy mild coffee mid-section. In the middle, it is slightly reminiscent of Porterhouse Plain Porter, with its overtones of pure mountain stream water - tannin and herbs, but seemingly set against the clearest of backgrounds. To finish, there is a resurgence of the initial hops. A classy porter indeed.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 adnielsen (3108) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 8, 2010
Tasted from a 500 mL bottle purchased in Aurora, Colorado. Deep brown body with an at first thick brown/black head like an Imperial Porter but dissipates pretty quickly. Fairly sweet dark malty aroma that’s quite nice. Chocolate flavored body with dark chocolate malty flavor. Has a bit of a bite but that’s a part of the flavor that’s not an alcohol. A little different take on a Baltic Porter but was actually quite enjoyable.

dark brown pour with tiny bubbly head. Mild roast, dark raisins and sugar aroma. Taste is roasty at first then very metallic like putting a penny in your mouth and licking a wet dog toy. Good frothy body. Overall just ok.
