Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

Butelka 0,5 l.

Black appearance, brown head with medium retention andd with little lacing. Milk chocolate, cocoa, toffee, cappuccino on the nose. Bitter, roasted taste, with a long, coffee-like finish. Creamy texture, with average carbonation. Very nice, but not exactly easy to drink.

Another quality offering from my friend Cantabrian. Heís a man whose opinion of Baltic Porter should be held in high esteem. Itís a style he loves and can talk about at length, holding the listenerís interest all the while. This one is as dark as can be with ruby tones in the dimple of the glass and a covering of caramel coloured head. As the crown came off there was a pungent plummy aroma that suggested that this beer was always going to be remarkable. A more interrogative sniff reveals charcoal, motor oil, cinnamon, dark cocoa, birch bark, carob (I hate carob), dark rum and dusty chocolate. No sooner had I written that this easily achieved full marks for aroma, than I caught a whiff of brine as well. It is slick and oily on the tongue and then there is a prickly carbonation followed by a rush of all those mature dark flavours clamouring for attention. When they are gently called to order they become sweet, juicy and amenable - as if a Welsh male choir has been called to order and gently brought to song. And what a song. Interesting, compulsive and suggestive flavours in this ale. It finishes with a fluffy chocolate and gentle saltiness that is wonderfully edifying. My deep thanks to Cantabrian... a lingering taste of radiation though? Sunken Soviet submarines? You weird bastard.

Couldnít be more excited to review my first Baltic Porter, and this Polish beauty was a hell of a way to start into the style. Appearance seduced me right away. Almost-black body, creamy head, sticky lacing. Smell is huge and assertive. Cocoa, coffee, syrupy fruit aromas, and a whole lotta booze. Flavor follows the nose. Rich, spicy cocoa at the fore; fresh, strong coffee after that; and boozy fruit finishing things off with prune, plum, currant, and dry sherry. This Porter is the perfect match for a fine cheese and a cold evening. Until now, this was a beer that Iíve seen before but knew little about it. Glad I know about it, now!

Bottle. A- Licorice, mocha, cocoa, malty, roasty, dark fruits. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Mocha, black licorice, anise, roasty, coffee, alcohol, dark fruits. P- Full body, thin texture, average carbonation, sharp finish. O- Wow. This beer has balls. Very strong licorice and mocha flavors finished with a sharp alcohol bite. Pretty good and definitely a winter warmer kind of beer.

500 ml. bottle, poured into a schooner. Thick tan head on a black body, leaving lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, roasted grain, chocolate, cherry, plum, slight nuts, brown sugar, booze. Well balanced flavor with a creamy, chocolatey sweetness of the malts offset by noble hop bitterness. This is a well crafted brew, and was a good deal at $3 a bottle on sale at BevMo. Packs a punch with 9.5% abv. Itís an imperial porter!

Pite we Wrocławiu z beczki. Ciemne piwo o kremowej średnio-trwałej pianie. W aromacie nuty palone, kawowe oraz delikatne kwaśne owoce. W smaku wytrawne, słodowe, delikatnie słodkawe.

A lot of roasty aromas, some cereal, coffee and chocolate scents. Appearance is black. 100% opaque. Head fades out really fast. At the beginning thereís a light sweetness and after that the bitterness kicks in. Really nice and quite strong bitterness. Itís medium carbonated. The body is medium too. Oily texture. Probably the best beer with "Żywiec" word on the label.
