The taste starts off with a little bit of hops then goes to a chocolate, roasted malt flavor. The falvor is pretty complex and well balanced. The 9.5% is hid very well, I would have put the alcohol around 6%. porterhouse (1165), Alna, Maine, USA

Pours pitch black with a tan head that recedes to a nice thin creamy crown. Aroma surprisingly restrained but notes of coffee and molasses. Nice weepy rings of lace. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, a bit tingly. Has a flavor of bitter coffee with some bitter chocolate underneath. Good but flavor actually hard to really identify, not much depth or richness. Alcohol very well hidden. Furseth (1339), Kungälv, Sweden

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2006 Beer pours black with a ring around the glass retained head. Aroma is a bit restained, but has notes of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is very nicely done. Rich dark chocolate with some roasted nuts, a dash of dark fruit. Also a bit of dry hoppy flavor. Alcohol burn upon hitting the esophagus, otherwise, alcohol is totally hidden. Good, but I have had better Baltics. Heart felt thanks to Andre’ for this one. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2006 500 ml bottle thanks to Kramer17801. Not as dark as I had expected. Very dark brown, but not plack. Decent head and decent lacing. Aromas were chocolate and much roastiness, but rather faint. Flavor were a bigger kick. Very sweet at first with chocolate and caramel. Almost a touch of banana in there. That’s wierd, is that right? hmmm. Alcohol warming takes over from there. Alcohol in the middle and the finish. Pretty smooth, and Pretty tasty. blankboy (3263), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2006 Bottle. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with an average size tan head. Slightly mild sweet aroma of caramel malt, chocolate, dark fruit and alcohol. Flavour hits me with an abundance of alcohol along with some sweet malt, chocolate, cola and a light burnt bitter finish. Syrupy mouthfeel and an average body. A little too sweet and boozy to make this a top-notch Baltic, I prefer the Okocim Porter. GreatLibations (1470), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Apr 10, 2006 Pours black brown with medium froth and slight residual effers. The nose is full bitter leather, yum. This baltic specimen is a bitter sweet example of the style. Starts out nice with sweet coffee and leather then like a woman scorned while fornicating finishes with a bitterness that lingers. Makes me want to smoke. This stuff rocks. Very complex. Alcohol is well hidden like a mistress in your closet. Overall; I fully recommend this. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2006 Found this in Super Saver in Somerville, NJ. The pour was blackish with some ruby edges. The aroma was big chocolate malt, some rauchy dark fruit. The palate was on the dense side, with flavors that were sweet, ranging from up front malt to back end chocolate syrupy and slightly rauchy elements. Well balanced.
