Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Great aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Flavor of heavily roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate, some alcohol and a nice bitter finish. Thick and full-bodied. Really good stuff.

A beer I’ve been searching for three years... found it at Bevmo recently! Slight roasted malts, somewhat sweet, alcohol is not noticable at all, sweet, but a great brew!!!!

Bottle. Took me surprisingly long to track this one down, ended up snagging one from State Line. Huge, overflowing roast malt and dark chocolate aroma. Sweet berry and very faint wild weed. Opaque black/chestnut body with an enormous tanned head, rocky and lacing. Taste is very bitter and roasty, with impy character, heft from the alcohol for style but not overdone (certainly wouldn’t have guessed 9.5%). Red berries hidden but contributing. Velvety feel, medium body. Classy, very drinkable offering!

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2011 great potential but no finish. great aroma and beginnings but disappears and ends flat. more like a dark lager. 021711 Rich chocolate toasty aroma, black in the glass with a creamy tan head. Very toasty and malt driven, finishes dry though surrounded by the syrupy concentrate.

Bottle... Clear, almost-black lager with a burnt orange tint and a small, creamy, beige head. Excellent retention. The vinous aroma is of port, caramel and dark fruit. Lots of roasted, vinous, moderately bitter notes in the flavor. Also, lightly sweet and mildly tangy; a blend of Riesling and dry red wine. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Burnt, bitter, abrasive finish. The malts, hops, esters, etc. don’t really blend well for me. Not my thing, but thanks goes out to growler for giving me the bottle!

Very nice. Nose is fairly closed, but the flavor is an assertive sweet roasted malt with enough hops in the follow-though to balance it out nicely. Kinda like a molasses cookie dipped in beer.

500 ml bottle from beastiefan2k. Pour is black with a nice big khaki head. There was quite a bit of layering initially, though that cleared very quickly. Aroma is roasted coffee and some nutty sweetness. Taste is well represented by the aroma with roasted coffee (caramel) sweetness and a bit of the nuttiness. Additionally, there is a nice sweet hop bitter finish. Palate is soft and still. As this warms, there is a slight hint of alcohol in the after taste. Thanks Eugene!
