10.11.05 500ml bottle. Deep dark brown with glowing ruby edges and a small but persistent tan head. Aroma belies a coming sweetness and predicts a smooth roast and some serious caramelized fruits. Soft and round flavors are full and roasty-dry with highlights of anise and tobacco. The body is so smooth, it’s amost a beer custard. Lingering brine reminds of olives; hints of other dried fruits, raisins, cherries, blueberries. Finishes on the sweet side, but this stuff never gets overly sweet as I expected, nor does the alcohol interfere. The malts in this beer are so intense and round. Yes!

Thanks to richlikebeer. Cocoa-colored head with an alcohol, hoppy smell with strong scents of coffee and chocolate. Head hugs the side of the glass. Taste licorice, chocolate. Slight hot edge aftertaste. Coffee taste lingers on the palate. Dark almost black color. One worth keeping around!

Bottle, thanks rich. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Poured a nice deep black with tan head. Flavor was good chocolate, vanilla and caramel combined with nice grassy hops. Palate was oily and full that finished sweet and easy. Overall a nice treat indeed.

coffee and licorice coming out of the aroma, with a hint of chocolate. pours a solid black body with a thick coffee flavored head that breaks down into little islands that float on top. lots of chocolate with licorice, grass, some vanilla, and caramel that are blended perfectly. a slick body, pretty thick for a porter, coats the inside of your mouth and the sweet chocolates make up the bulk of the aftertaste. this was very nice, and i owe BierKonig much love for sending this over.

Pours a clear dark brown color with ruby highlights and a ring of light brown lace. Very attractive aroma of rich malt, chocolate, raisin, plums and figs. Excellent flavor of rich and slightly roasted malt with chocolate, raisin, plums and figs with a bitter finish. The body is medium with a slightly dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This is a rich and complex beer, great stuff.
