Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

I live 30 km from the Baltic Sea. And what is the best beer in autumn after trip to to Baltic Sea, where accidentally I see a lot of people seeking for amber after some works related with dredging the seabed. Of course it is a Baltic Porter. So I go to basement and dig out the icon of style of Baltic Porter. Żywiec Porter. Beer is a little after best before (23.09.2015), but it isn’t a problem for Baltic porters because most of them are better after best before. In look it is almost pitch black. Nice beige head and lacing. In aroma dark roasted malts, rum, sweetness, cherries. In taste sweetness, rum, liquor. Long dark chocolate aftertaste. The beer is smooth and velvet.

Nice aroma of smokey chocolate, and hints of coffee. Ebony in color, full tan head on pour, holds some. Rich sweetness up front. Sweet chocolate, with hidden bitter tones. Chocolate muffin flavor, nice. Bitterness cuts in, dry and bitter chocolate tones. Roasted malt also comes through. Rich mouth feel, with a slightly dry finish. Outstanding porter!

Dark jet black. Roasted, almost charred. Subtly malty sweet at first then evolves into super dry. Quite nice. $1.99 for 500 ML, are you kidding me?

Aroma: Some roast and coffee with metal and some perfume-type fruity notes, alcohol. Appearance: Nice head, high, dense and lacing. Black color. Taste: Roast, bit of coffee, a lot of metal, again perfume sweetness - similar to cheap whiskey fruit notes, a lot of alcohol. Palate: Finish is sweet and alcohol, body is full, carbonation is low. Poor is the fate of the Polish beer legend. :/

Coffee, dark chocolate, overall darkish aromas. Deep dark colour with nice foam that disappears quickly. In taste there is malt and dark chocolate with sour note behind. Nice aftertaste of dark baked bread mixed with dark chocolate. Carbonation is average, body is rather full. Nice bitterness. Very good example of porter.

500 ml bottle. dark brown color with tan head. Roasted malt aroma has hints of chocolate. Bittersweet choc / malty flavor upfront, which leads to dark fruits and sweetness with coffee at the end. Nice creamy mouthfeel. A great Porter and despite the high alcohol content, well balanced. Ridiculously expensive in Australia due to the high taxes on any beer over 5% abv.

Wygląd: Piana ciemna, gęsta, drobnopęcherzykowa. Piwo ciemne, nieprzejrzyste z delikatnymi czerwonymi refleksami. Zapach: Palony, palona kawa. Smak: Wytrawny, palony, czarna kawa. Ogólnie: Bardzo dobry porter. Klasyka.
