COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

500ml bottle, Used a snifter. Pours very dark brown nearly black with a beige head and good amount of lace. Aroma of rich roasted and caramel malts that creates a rich pleasant smell. The taste is a bold, full bodied malt and syrup with a good amount of warming alcohol on the way down. Lite bitter hop as it warms up as well as a slight sourness. A big bold Baltic porter that I could sip on until the early morning hours. This one pleasantly surprised me. A porter I will buy again for sure.

Thanks AirForce Hops for sharing this dessert w me.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color with some reddish/amber notes to it and a finger of off-white head. S: Initial aromas are booze and metal, one might say pennies. A lot of dark roasted malts and a touch of dark, bitter chocolate. There are some dark fruit notes to the beer as it warms up, particularly prunes and raisins. T: The flavor is fairly harsh. Lots of bitterness and lots of roasted malts. A rather intense metallic flavor to the beer with a hint of cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Not much in the way of the dark fruits that were present on the nose. Alcohol comes through quite strongly as well. M: Medium in both body and carbonation. O: Too boozy and harsh to be all that enjoyable. The metal wasn’t doing much for me either.

Bottle. Pours a blackish color with some dark red notes in the sides of the glass, and a beige head. Aroma is qutie sweet with lots of sweet dark fruit, sweet malt, brown sugar notes and roast. The flavor is way more roasty than the aroma indicates with notes of burnt malt and smoke. Still the sweetness persists with sweet dark fruit, brown sugar ,a sweet maltiness, and an alcohol note in the back. The body is medium with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall a pretty solid Baltic Porter.

Dark Baltic Porter. Lots of roasted and burnt flavors along with being bitter and dry, is this really almost 10 percent?

Served from a 500 mL bottle from BevMo. The appearance is a good looking black with a small to medium light brown head. The aromas are roast malt, freshly milled grains. The flavors are moderately sweet with a nice medium roast medium bodied malt profile. There is a good low intensity coffee note and plenty of grains. The flavors dry out as you go. The lager yeast really comes through at times. You don’t really see that in a lot of porters (at least I don’t). The mouth is medium to full bodied with a full cotton mouth finish. A fine example of a Porter. If it isn’t just marketing it’s really cool that this is the same recipe from 1881.

Test vom 3.5.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,11,13,13,12

More what I expected a Polish Porter to taste like. Sour, unsanitary, kind of nauseating. 130 year old recipe makes this more appealing to me, like I am tasting a piece of European Baltic history.
