Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

This is a unique porter. Not because it has some unique or funky adjuncts but because the basic complements are strong. The roasted malts stand out in the aroma with some woody essence. The color is deep and dark with a small creamy head. This was matched by the creamy, almost milk-like palate. Carbonation is present but low and at a proper level. This is a very malty beer but not in a bad way. Strong and roasty, almost burnt. No semblance of hops to me. Great beer but somewhat heavy.

Bottle 330ml. Served at cellar temperature. Pours cola brown with a red tint. Head is medium sized, lightly tanned and lasts very well in the glass. Aroma is of roasted malts, toast, plums, raisins, liquorice, milk chocolate, black coffee, brown sugar and a touch of smoke and treacle. Flavour is a medium earthy hop bitterness with roasted malts, bitter black coffee, burnt raisin toast, dark chocolate, salted liquorice, prunes and some ash/smoke in the finish. Full bodied with medium carbonation, an oily texture and a long dry finish. Not my ’go to’ Baltic Porter, but very tasty all the same.

Pours dark brown, black, amber with a two finger tan head with an aroma of malt and a taste of malt, cocoa, coffee and mild hops with a well hidden mild alcohol and caramel finish.

Dobry porter jak na nisk? cen?, ?rednio 4-5z? za 0.5l butelk?. Niby ?ywiec ale nie jest robiony przemys?owo jak inne ?ywce tylko na zamku cieszy?skim i ?ywieckim.

Aromat alkoholowy, lekko owocowy, czekoladowy, przyjemny. Barwa czarna, piana w kolorze ecru do beżowego, mało obfita jak to w tym stylu. W smaku, czekolada, palona kawa, nuta alkoholowa. Pełne i sycące, goryczka średnia, krótka. Przyjemna oleista tekstura, delikatnie wysycone. Przez ten alkohol przychodzą na myśl czekoladki w likierze. Trochę jest tego za dużo, nadaje się do wyleżakowania. Podsumowując, to piwo to rasowy bałtyk, świetny przedstawiciel stylu

Butelka 500ml. Ciemno-czarne. Piana bialawa z lekkim przypaleniem niezbyt duza redukuje sie do obreczy. W zapachu dosc wyrazny alkohol czekolada i palone slody. W smaku dodatkowo karmel i delikatne kakaowe tony. Dobre lecz malo tutaj smakow ktore moglyby zabic alkoholowe nuty.

Kirkas, colanvärinen olut ei vaahtoa juurikaan. Tuoksu paahteinen, hieman suklainen. Maku paahteinen, makea ja loppupuolelta hieman katkerammin humaloitu ja kahvinen. Keskitäyteläinen, nautittava portteri.

500 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a medium black with a light tan colored head and a good bit of lace as it falls. The aroma is quite rosty and chocolatey. There is a bitterness to it, but it’s not too bad for what I was expecting. It’s a pretty nice balance for a foreign porter. The flavor is really dry. There is a nice roast and a great chocolate presence. The dryness is a little bit of a hit, as well as the milkiness present. The roast and chocolate offer a good backbone, but it’s just a hint too dry. The mouth feel is lighter and good with a softer carbonation and a lingeringly dry and roasty chocolate finish. Not too bad. This is a little bit of a surprise in a good sense.
