500ml bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark cola color, revealing hints of ruby-red translucence when held up to a light. A two-finger mocha head is formed with a beautiful creaminess and very strong retention. As it slowly recedes, it leaves behind large sheets of lacing down the glass. S: It’s very forward in dark fruits, chocolate, and molasses. Distant notes of roast, coffee, and mild hops are hidden behind the sweet maltiness. My only real problem is how mild the aroma is - which is a shame, because it’s good otherwise. T: Sweetness opens the flavor profile strongly, with strong caramel, dark fruit, and chocolate qualities. This will transition to a very roasty, mildly hoppy finish. Hints of earth and booze pop up on the back end, as well. While it’s a bit boozy, it doesn’t really hinder its drinkability, thanks to the mildness of flavor. It even has a bit of depth to it. The booze note gets stronger as it warms up, so drink cold. M: A bit on the thin side, with a typical crisp lager bite on the finish and strong carbonation. It’s almost as if this is designed for drinkability over richness; in regards to the former, it’s pretty successful. O: This is a very dangerous brew. It’s inexpensive and drinkable, with only mild hints to suggest its actual strength. While not fantastic, it’s a great way to get drunk on the cheap(ish) - I know I’d much rather drink this over some crappy Euro malt liquor.

The aroma does have some chocolate/coffee notes but mostly it?s alcohol. Pours black with a large, off-white, relatively stable head. The taste is quite bitter and a little bit sour; sadly, the bitterness is not as much roasted as it is burnt. Fullish body, a little creamy, lightly carbonated, has an intensely bitter, a bit tart, and overall unpleasant finish. Appearance is the only positive aspect of this beer; alcohol is much too pronounced, roastiness is overdone to the point of being burnt; I?m definitely not coming back.

500 ml bottle into snifter, best before 9/28/2013. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, roasted malt, raisin, prune, brown sugar, molasses, light herbal, and roast/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, raisin, prune, brown sugar, molasses, herbal, and roast/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, toast, dark bread, roasted malt, raisin, prune, brown sugar, molasses, herbal, and roast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, yeast ester, and earthy hop flavors; with a a great malt/yeast balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, smooth, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Baltic porter. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, yeast ester, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2014 Butelka 500ml. Kolor ciemny brunatny, z niską pianą. Nisko wysycony. Zapach suszonych śliwek, rodzynek, gorzkiej czekolady, lekko palony. W smaku bardzo gorzka czekolada, alkohol, palone słody. Finisz z solidną czekoladową goryczką. Dobre jak na koncerniaka.

Very nice porter, the alcohol is masked pretty nicely by the malt. Nice aroma.

Definitely the best beer from Zywiec Group. It’s actually quite good porter, what is totally aberrant in Poland that huge brewery like Zywiec can make so good beer.

W aromacie kawa, czekolada, karmel, chleb, średnia palność. Ciemne, nieprzejrzyste, piana umiarkowana.

500 ml bottle, back label says best before 09.13.2014. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that stayed around a while. There’s a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, anise, and some brown sugar. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like roasted/charred malt, dark fruit (plums, prunes, raisins), molasses, dark chocolate, brown sugar, anise, and an earthy/mineral flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this, and at just $1.79 a bottle it’s definitely worth picking up!

Najlepszy polski Porter. Ciemny, kawowy, palony, goryczkowy. Nie piłem nigdy lepszego do niego. Każdy inny zawsze ma coś gorzej, choć w zawartości kawy.

Bottle. Small, beige head. In aroma mostly chocolate, roasty notes. In taste also chocolate. Nice bitterness.
