COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

500ml bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark cola color, revealing hints of ruby-red translucence when held up to a light. A two-finger mocha head is formed with a beautiful creaminess and very strong retention. As it slowly recedes, it leaves behind large sheets of lacing down the glass. S: It’s very forward in dark fruits, chocolate, and molasses. Distant notes of roast, coffee, and mild hops are hidden behind the sweet maltiness. My only real problem is how mild the aroma is - which is a shame, because it’s good otherwise. T: Sweetness opens the flavor profile strongly, with strong caramel, dark fruit, and chocolate qualities. This will transition to a very roasty, mildly hoppy finish. Hints of earth and booze pop up on the back end, as well. While it’s a bit boozy, it doesn’t really hinder its drinkability, thanks to the mildness of flavor. It even has a bit of depth to it. The booze note gets stronger as it warms up, so drink cold. M: A bit on the thin side, with a typical crisp lager bite on the finish and strong carbonation. It’s almost as if this is designed for drinkability over richness; in regards to the former, it’s pretty successful. O: This is a very dangerous brew. It’s inexpensive and drinkable, with only mild hints to suggest its actual strength. While not fantastic, it’s a great way to get drunk on the cheap(ish) - I know I’d much rather drink this over some crappy Euro malt liquor.

Dark (duh), somewhat a tad transparent. Nice head for a porter beer. A bit too bitter for my tastes, but on the overall it’s pretty decent. Has many smokey notes and some coffee-like ones.

500ml bottle. Park Rapids, MN. Bottled June 2010. Pours dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. pretty nice. Taste is mostly sweet. Medium body with frothy texture. Overall, a little on the sweet side for my preference, but generally pretty nice. Aroma and flavor are pretty decent.

Aroma: Rich malt character that resembles caramel more than chocolate; maybe a little fudge, but overall quite simplistic. Doppelbock-like. Appearance: Opaque black pour with a foamy mocha head that settles into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Moderately sweet caramel dominant with fudge in the background; that waffle cone character that seems to always creep into these beers for me; dries out pretty well and has a remarkably bitter finish (for the style). Alcohol doesn’t play no games. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Glad to have finally tried this one, but I must admit to being a bit underwhelmed. Still, one you almost have to try if you’re into porter, especially Baltic Porters.

Seems to have that same issue that a lot of British dark ales, a little too much candied sugar notes. Meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: coffee, cocoa; Appearance: dark brown; Taste: intense bitterness, medium sweetness; Palate: bitter finish, thick texture, full body, soft carbonation Part of the bitterness coming from alcohol and not hops but it isnt a big fault. Terrific price to quality ratio.

Pours with quickly dissapearing brownish head. Dominating metallic (iron) aroma with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Tastes roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and watery metallic unfortunately, with nice bitter finish and warming alcohol. Good, but that iron...

Dobry porter.
