Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

Pours a deep caramel brown beneath a huge, creamy, long-lasting mocha head. Bittersweet and milk chocolate aroma with a punch of dark fruit, a thin layer of cake dough and a whiff of ABV. There is an odd burnt/metallic tinge to the flavor (which I blame on Continental hopping), but the base is semi-sweet chocolate syrup with coffee roasts and a splash of spiced rum. Full-bodied, almost sticky... wholly satisfying on a chill January evening. I remember this being a top-rated Baltic Porter about 5 years ago, and it being very difficult to find at the time. I recently ran across a goodly amount of bottles at several local bottle shops, so I’m guessing production and exports have stepped up a notch. ~~~~~~~~~ Pint bottle from Bridgeview Liquors, Bridgeview, IL

500ml Bottle - Black with a tan head. Raisins, plain chocolate and and some roasted and slightly smoky notes in the aroma. Black treacle, liquorice, plain chocolate and lightly roasted coffee in the taste. Indulgent and rich yet very easy to drink.

Aromat delikatny, troszkę kawy, wiśni w czekoladzie, nieco alkoholu i karmelu.

When I joined Ratebeer I decided not to add in any prior ratings. However have now decided to add in some prior ratings (OK - just because certain gaps in my maps, etc, were annoying me!). This was one of the 300 Beers To Try Before You Die booked that had been alluding me. However a colleague mentioned that he’d worked with a Polish guy who’d given him some beers. This was the last one left at the back of a cupboard. 3+ years past it’s BB date, but was still a decent, if not OTT, porter.

Barwa ciemno brunatna. Aromat pumpernikla, przypalonego karmelu, czekolady deserowej. Po ogrzaniu wyczuwalny alkohol. W smaku pełne, czekolada deserowa, kawa zbozowa, pumpernikiel. ALkohol wyczuwalnym, i dość ordynarny. Goryczka niska, alkoholowa.

Bottle from Prohibicja, Ostroda, Poland and split at the EU themed 2nd Ipswich bottle share. Pours dark brown colour with a creamy, lasting off white head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and malt. Medium sweetness, fair amount of roasted bitterness. Body is medium/full, slick texture, carbonation is average. Roasted bitterness to finish.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Guinness pint glass. The appearance is dark, DARK brown, almost black with a thin light tan head. Bakers chocolate, light caramel, roasted barley and some floral/spicy hops in the aroma and taste. Well worth its near 150 year old recipe.

Zapach zdominowała czekolada i kawa. W smaku dochodzi paloność, kwaskowatość. Piwo jest słodkawe. Klasyka gatunku
