Excellent. This is a porter? I kept thinking full-blown stout. Color is extremely dark. with an aroma that invites you to take that first sip. Taste is outstanding. Coffee, molasses, and a tartness that I can’t quite describe. The 9+% abv gets you going pretty quick. This would be a fine, sitting by the fire on a cold night type of beer. I paired it up with a medium-rare New York strip steak hot off the grill. I would recommend this beer highly.

Poured a black color, with some red around the edges, with a medium sized, creamy, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla beans, and light caramel malt. Taste of smoked malt, chocolate, roast, and oak. Finishes with dry fruits, and no alcohol at all. Awesome.

Ok last beer of the night ..bought this in then11.2 oz brown bottle..nice label with two Poles , male and female in the traditional costume...says same recipe since 1881. Good pour..nice deep dark brown almost black ( this looks like a stout)..small head which lingers long,. ahhhhhh i love the aroma of this beer very very malty sweet fruity berry scents assault my nasal passages..great This beer has a great creamy taste ..lots of flavours up front i get coconut then sweet chocolate..black coffee..hoppy bitterness at the end. Feels good on the tongue very smooth drinkable for a beere this damned strong..cant really feel the alcohol until it reaches the belly then it's a delicious warmth..this is truelly a great beer, nice just before retiring to a crisp clean and warm bed. Never knew a Polish beer would be so great!

Another legend to taste. Got this from Pitfields as well. What a shop! You could go crazy in there, but that would be after bankruptcy. Chocolate and liquorice nose is complemented by a delicious looking opaque black. The head is spare but it sure sticks to the glass on the way down. A huge beer with solid warming characteristics. How they brew such an amazing beer compared to the average lager is beyond me. The final marvellous thing about this beer is that I enjoyed it with myself.

(Bottle BB 15/06/06) Aroma of roasted malty, coffee and light alcohol. Black colour and light brown, small size, rapidly almost fully diminishing head with fair lacing. Heavily roasted malty (almost burned), moderately bitter, licorice, coffee and fruity flavour. Softly carbonated, dry and light alcoholic (warming) palate. This is very delicious beer, which is a perfect late night drink! 13/05/06

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2006 500 oz bottle via slob(thanks!). Pours a black color with a mohageny tint.. Aroma of toasted vanilla, cherries, chocolate and plums. Wow, this is good. An complex. Vanilla, toffee, roasted chocolate and coffee with a wonderful roasted coffee finish. Bittersweet licorice aftertaste. The roasted malts play off and counterbalance the sweetness perfectly. Full bodied. Now this is what a truely great BALTIC porter should taste like.

Pours a basically opaque black with a tan head. Nose is distinct with chocolate. I like! Flavor is just as good. Mature and robust with a smooth and not too harsh profile. Chocolate and mature malt tomes. Feel is thick with carbonation and smooth with ingredients. Extremely drinkable. After sampling several porters from the region over the past few weeks, this is by far one of the top ones...if not THE top one. Very worth trying,

This is a nice, smooth, but very flavourful Polish porter. It is black red with a fairly loarge, very long-lasting light brown head leaving very nice lace. The aroma is chocolatye, coffee, wine, prunes, and brown sugar. The taste is rich, with a lot of strong, complex flavours, but it is very smooth and blends very niely. It has a rich prune-chocolate-wine-burnt sugar character with lements of licorice, black pepper, and coffee. It’s smooth and a little oily but less than one might expect for this richness. It has a warmth to it, but the high alcohol is not notcieable at all except in the silky body and warm sweetness.

This beer is the best porter I have had a must try.A gift from my friend and beer guy Paul.Starts with a dark brown to rubby red pour with a awesome caramel head.Aromas of dark fruits like raisins, plums and figs but wait a back note of stawberrys and burnt sugars. If you think that sounds good just wait it taste better.Hands down best porter out where.
