LilBeerDoctor (278), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark black with a pretty dark, creamy tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of chocolate and faint coffee and roast. Flavor strongly of coffee and roast, some chocolate. Rather boozy too, especially as it warmed. Good beer.
douglas88 (610), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 14, 2008 Updated: Jul 15, 2008Bottle thanks to Ibrew2or3, what a hell of a guy. Pours a black body with a thick light brown head. The aroma is full of caramel, burnt malts, liquorice, and some alcohol. The taste is just awesome; sweet caramel, chocolate, and cherries, a large alcohol presence, this beer is quite warm. Also, some metallic and rum raisin cake aspects. Just a great beer. Very enjoyable, fruity and full. The kind of beer I always enjoy, Poland has won me over big time. Bungalo22 (218), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jul 14, 2008 My Polish realtor turned me on to this one. A strong carmel, nut and chocolate aroma on this one. The taste was as smooth as the smell. I have had other Zywiec and have not been as impressed. This was very solid and well balanced. Mes_and_Sim (3927), London, Greater London, England Jul 6, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle thanks to Tom who grabbed this for a bargain from a Polish shop on the way to Ealing fest. Black brown with a good tan head. Glorious aroma or cake, bread, liquorice malt and and a bit hit of sweet fruit from the alcohol. Almost a 9 to be honest. Flavour is not quite so good. There is a slight hint of soy and metal that really holds this back from being very good indeed. Lovely roasty finish with a big alcohol sting around the edges that is in all honesty the thing that is holding this back. The palate is superb and pitched just right. The carbonation is just what I would want for this style. It’s really good, it’s just nailed by the big booze unfortunately. All in all though, a damn good beer that is currently giving me a nice little buzz. Svensen (10), , Sweden Jun 19, 2008 Very aromatic. Lots of caramel and chocolate with fresh dark bread notes as well. Deep black color with a beautiful three finger thick mocha head. Very roasty...burnt pumpernickel and dark chocolate flavors pop out. Head never gives up it stays huge and fluffy...beautiful looking beer. Some herb and vegetal flavors come out in further sips.
Stefano (939), Esbjerg, Denmark Jun 19, 2008 Black colour and light brown, small size, rapidly almost fully diminishing head with fair lacing. Aromas of alcohol, roasted nuts and brown sugar. Taste is of roasted, bitter coffee with a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. Rich and complex.
