Cask Lab with Oliver Brewmaster Steve Jones

Details

Classic cask ale techniques come to Old Town on Wednesday, February 16 starting at 5:30 p.m. and going until 10 p.m. Join us at Columbia Firehouse in the heart of Alexandria to learn about the ins, outs and everything in between on cask-conditioned real ale. Our friend and brewmaster Steve Jones from Oliver Breweries at the Pratt Street Ale House in Baltimore, Maryland will impart a slew of knowledge about the brewing process, the difference between cask and regular kegs, terminology and techniques and of course, how to enjoy an authentic pint of cask beer.

During the evening, Steve will tap and serve from a unique glass-bottomed firkin of his IronMan Pale Ale – yes, you’ll be able to see the beer and hops within the cask! At our main bar we’ll tap another one of Steve’s cask beers – 3 Lions Brown Ale – served handpulled through a traditional beer engine. In addition to fine ales for drinking, everyone is invited to enjoy a few small bites – on the house – and take home a piece of brewery glassware.
