Tap Project 3, 6, 5

Details

In partnership with Oskar Blues Brewery, the Iron Monkey will be launching Tap Project 3, 6, 5 on May 3 to help promote Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy’s Project 365 Jersey City Green Week.

Beginning on Thursday with a Meet the Brewer event with Oskar Blues’ owner Dale Katechis, Tap Project 3,6,5 will help promote the Jersey City biking community. From Thursday (5/3) through Saturday (5/5), $2 from every Oskar Blues draft purchased from tap numbers 3, 6 and 5 will be donated to help purchase new bike racks for area businesses. The Oskar Blues drafts that will be part of the Tap Project 3, 6, 5 are Dale’s Pale Ale, Deviant Dale’s IPA and Mama’s Little Yella Pils.

Katechis and Oskar Blues are ardent supporters of environmental causes and advocates for green and sustainable living. They were the country’s first craft brewer to package and sell their brews in cans, which are nearly 50 percent lighter to ship than bottles, and reduce the company’s carbon footprint significantly.

In addition to that, they’re major bike enthusiasts.

“We live and breathe bikes and beer 365 and are stoked the Iron Monkey chose an Oskar Blues “Meet the Brewer” night to promote the Jersey City biking community,” Katechis says. “We support a boatload of cycling events, ranging from our local Bicycle Longmont G’Knigt Cruiser Ride (www.gknightride.org ) that hosts a few thousand riders to the backcountry of the Breckenridge and Leadville 100 mountain bike races…and hell, we dig ‘em all.”

The brewery has also begun building their own mountain bikes, REEB Cycles: www.REEBcycles.com

With Oskar Blues’ support, The Iron Monkey is pledging to purchase at least one bike rack for a local business, and hope to raise enough funds to purchase more.

In addition, the Iron Monkey is also partnering with Grove Street Bicycles. As a three-year sponsor of Bike JC’s city-wide Ward Tour, the Iron Monkey is a supporter of city bicycling. In order to encourage bike usage, we’re donating a $10 restaurant gift card for every bike purchased between May 3 and May 5.

"It’s Green Week in Jersey City, and Oskar Blues is one of the greenest companies that we work with," says Stephen McIntyre, owner of The Iron Monkey. "It felt like a natural partnership, and will give us the chance to do something good, while drinking really great beers."
