It’s been said that beer is the root of civilization, and that agriculture was birthed out of a desire to brew. While industrialization, urbanization and a never-ending thirst for progress has taken most of the brewing world away from it’s agriculture roots, Belgium and France have continued to inspire the craft brewing world with the diversity of farmhouse ales. Originally brewed in the cooler months, these rustic provision beers had to be sturdy enough last through the brewing off season, but still quenching enough to tame the summer heat. These days farmhouse ales are brewed by craft brewers around the world, from Norway to Japan, the U.S., Italy, New Zealand and the boundaries of saison, biere de garde and other classic styles have evolved into an infinite number of flavor profiles that all bare a unique sense of place. In conjunction with L.A. Beer Week Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach is proudly celebrating the season with a Farmhouse Ale Festival on Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23. Join us for farmhouse inspired food specials and a rotating draft list featuring all farmhouse ales. Come experience a family of beers that have mesmerized our senses since the root of civilization.
