Baird Brewing Company Review: 8 Exciting Japanese Craft-Brewed Ales on Draft!

Since opening ChurchKey, Beer Director Greg Engert has made it his mission to seek out the most expressive, most impressive and altogether most exciting craft brews from all over the globe. This aim has led to a 500 deep bottle list with ales and lagers from countless countries, as well as 55 drafts and casks sure to rotate in some of the most exotic and surprising selections around. But while the list is always expansive, it can be difficult to procure even a modicum of draft beer from any one of the smaller artisanal producers who seldom ship kegs, if ever, to the USA...

Thatís why we are so excited to have the distinct pleasure, this coming Monday night, of showcasing 8 different kegs from one of Japanís most talked-about brewers, Baird Brewing Company! The formula for this fantastic brewhouse is simple, and guides each and every decision behind their exquisite brewing explorations: Balance + Complexity=Character. We are sure that as you taste through the wide array of Baird Brews during the feature, you will agree that Baird Brewing is a master of crafting brews of elegant nuance, often restrained, but always brimming with flavor.

For the big event, we have compiled a list that represents the mainstays--the modern takes on classic styles--from the Baird portfolio, like Rising Sun Pale Ale, Angry Boy Brown Ale, Kurofone Porter and the rarely (if ever) seen hoppy treats Teikoko IPA and Suruga Bay Imperial IPA. Youíll also get to enjoy the seasonally-produced Dark Sky Imperial Stout, as well as two beers coming to DC for the very first time: Belgian Strong Pale Ale (dry-hopped w/ 6 varieties of hop) and Yabai-Yabai Strong Scotch Ale, an opulent and rather chewy malt-driven strong ale crafted to to take the sting out of this late autumn chill!

There is no admission fee for this event and all Baird drafts will be poured in full glasses and in 4 oz. taster pours.
