Alewife Selected to Host Stone Brewing’s Final Chapter of its Vertical Epic Series in NYC on December 12th
Tap Takeover Will Feature Stone’s Vertical Epic Ale Series from the Past 10 Years Together with Several Stone Classics and Rarities
NEW YORK, November 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Alewife NYC, a craft beer and food destination in Long Island City (5-14 51st Avenue, LIC, 11101; 718.937.7494) has been selected as the East Coast venue for Stone Brewing Co,’s much anticipated Vertical Tasting of its Vertical Epic Ale series. Alewife NYC has ties to this amazing Escondido,CA-based brewery and for the first time on the East Coast, the past 10 Vertical Epic Series Ales will all be in one room at one time only for your tasting pleasure. Stone’s 12.12.12 Vertical Epic Ale marks the end of an era. Since 2002, Stone has released a unique, Belgian-influenced, bottle-conditioned ale, with each subsequent beer available exactly one year, one month and one day from its predecessor, and designed to be aged and enjoyed together on 12.12.12.
The tasting event will be held at Alewife NYC on Wednesday, December 12th 2012. The taps will start flowing at 12 p.m. with 9 of the Vertical Epic beers from the year 2003 right up to the newest edition of 2012. Rounding out the taps will be some Stone favorites like the Ruination IPA, Smoked Porter, and Imperial Russian Stout, as well as a few rare casks and numerous special bottled offerings. Alewife will be pouring some very rare and special aged beers, many beers that have never been, and never again will be, poured on the East Coast.
The Stone Brewing Vertical Epic Story:
As with any good epic, herein lies the promise of larger-than-life experiences, heroics and twists & turns as the adventure unfolds. These bottle-conditioned ales are specifically designed to be aged until sometime after December 12, 2012. Provided you can wait that long. At that time, enjoy them in a "vertical" tasting. Each one unique to its year of release. Each with its own "twist & turn" in the plotline. Each one released one year, one month and one day from the previous year’s edition.
Alewife’s Chefs Greg & Travis will be creating a special ‘Vertical Epic’ menu to pair alongside these amazing beers.
This is an event that will be talked about, blogged about, and reviewed for years to come. A room-full of EPIC brews, of widely differing styles, all sharing a brotherhood of spirit, integrity and passion.
