Molecular archaeologist Dr. Patrick McGovern will be stopping in the Beer Garden for a few beers and to talk to our customers about the newest addition to Dogfish Headís Ancient Ales lineup. Dr. Pat and Dogfish Headís Sam Calagione travelled to Italy to develop this recipe with Leo DeVencenzo of Birra del Borgo and Teo Musso of Baladin. After analyzing drinking vessels found in 2,800-year-old Etruscan tombs, they settled on a recipe using heirloom Italian wheat, hazelnut flour, pomegranates, Italian chestnut honey, Delaware wildflower honey and clover honey. Most of the bitterness comes from gentian root and Ethiopian myrrh resin, and Dogfish Head has fermented it in bronze. Birra Etrusca Bronze will be available on draft and in 750 ml bottles. Come out for a chance to talk with an international beer superstar.
