In its 18th year, Mammoth’s Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza, sponsored by Mammoth Brewing Company, promises an incomparable lineup of musical talent and a grand tasting of craft brews from around the country. It all takes place Thursday, August 1st through Sunday, August 4th outdoors among the pines at Sam’s Wood Site in Mammoth Lakes, California, located on Minaret Road between Main Street and Meridian Boulevard, with California’s Eastern High Sierra as the backdrop.
The Friday Night Rock ‘N Blues Kickoff Party (3:00pm-10:00pm) features blazing performances from blues/R&B soul singer Joan Osborne; the dynamic rock ‘n soul vibe of Vintage Trouble; seething hot Texas singer-guitarist Carolyn Wonderland; and world renowned rockin’ blues guitarist Gary Hoey. Saturday’s Bluesapalooza (11:45am-9:15pm) features the impassioned down-home soul of JJ Grey & Mofro; feral blues guitarist Tinsley Ellis; tenacious funk-blues jive of Mingo Fishtrap; rockin’ blues guitarist Jimmy Thackery; high-energy gypsy hipsters Diego’s Umbrella; and smoky vocalist/blues pianist Deanna Bogart. Festival goers can unwind, kick back and relax at Sunday’s Soulful Hangover Party (9:00am-6:00pm) with gospel music legend Mavis Staples; award-winning blues master John Hammond; and R&B soul singer Rube Velle and the Soulphonics.
The festival opens once again on Thursday, August 1st with free admission at the Thursday Night Bluesapalooza Jam Fest, featuring returning Aussie world blues performer Harper & Midwest Kind with special guest The Bald Eagles.
And what goes better with Blues than a good brew. On Saturday, the Mammoth Festival of Beers Grand Tasting (12 pm-5:00pm) features over 60 of the country’s best craft breweries such as Mammoth Brewing Company (sponsor of the event), Anchor Brewing, Fireman’s Brew, Bear Republic, Anderson Valley, Stone, Green Flash, Firestone Walker, San Diego, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Tap It Brewing, and many more. Along with the beer and blues, plenty of tasty blues food from some of Mammoth’s best restaurants will be served in the Blues Food Court satisfying the heartiest of appetites.
