We’re heading into the 3rd year of Trail Magic Ale™ releases and this year is sure to be a big one. We’ve reached back into the recipe vault and will release our 7th Trail Magic Ale, a Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout, that is true to it’s original design -- aged in Jack Daniels Barrels and blended to perfection. The release will be held March 14th and 15th at our taproom in Bryson City and bottles will be available for $15 each on the 15th at noon.
FRIDAY PRE-PARTY: On Friday March 14th, 2013, we will tap the first keg of the 7th Trail Magic Ale™ Release, a Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout, at 6 pm exclusively at our Tap Room in Bryson City. We will host a bottle swap/beer geek party in the brewery from 6 pm till 8 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring home brew, rare bottled beers and your favorite local craft brews to share with your peers. Local favorites, the Liz Nance Trio will perform at 8 pm - no cover.
SATURDAY BOTTLE RELEASE: The following day, Saturday, March 15th, 2013 we will offer limited bottle release Trail Magic Ale bottles exclusively at our Tap Room in Bryson City. The event will begin at noon. A limited number of 750 ml bottles will be available for purchase on a first come first serve basis (see more details below). Soldier’s Heart will perform at 8 pm to wrap up the event.
ABOUT THE BREW: The 7th installment in the Trail Magic Series is a Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout. This year we returned to our roots and aged the first batch of Trail Mix Russian Imperial Stout in Jack Daniels Barrels (same as the original) for several months before blending it with Trail Mix No. 2 to create a complex Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout. Local Sorghum and Wildflower Honey were used through out the brewing and aging process.
PURCHASING BOTTLES: We’ve chosen to offer the 7th Trail Magic Release in capped 750 ml bottles. As guests arrive Saturday morning each will have an opportunity to purchase up to four bottles. If bottles are left over once everyone has been able to purchase four bottles, then we will allow additional purchases until all bottles are sold. There is a limited number of bottles available and we encourage everyone to arrive early.
PORTION OF PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT APP TRAIL: A portion of proceeds of the bottle sales will be donated to the Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner Program via the Friends of the Smokies organization.
ABOUT THE RIDGERUNNER PROGRAM: Each year the Park recruits a series of individuals who provide a presence on the Appalachian Trail from March through October. They provide visitor information, do trail maintenance, pack out litter, keep up composting privies, report on the condition of the trail and the shelters, report emergencies and advise hikers on food storage and other regulations, and relay real-time information regarding possible problem bears. Their presence on the AT for over 15 years has made a huge difference in the Park’s ability to manage the AT.Cost: http://nantahalabrewing.com/
