Details

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

16 Tons Wild Ale Fest!
70 Wild Ales at 16 Tons Taphouse

Eugene, OR (May 3rd, 2014)
12-10PM

We will be pouring ales ranging from Farmhouse to Funky, from Tart to Tooth-Achingly-Acidic. Rustic, Sour, Barrel Aged, Spontaneously Fermented, and simply Wild ales.

Beer is created when Yeast is introduced to the sweet, malty liquid known as wort. Traditionally this yeast did not come from labs and was not studied and separated under a microscope. It was introduced naturally, wildy, spontaneously. Wild Ales have had a huge resurgence in popularity in the last few years. The "Wild Yeast" that is used is now cultivated in labs, but the labs endeavor to duplicate the Wild Yeast blends that have occurred naturally in the great beer regions south of Brussels, Belgium and in the Flanders region of Belgium.

The Wild Ale Fest will be running 12-10PM on May 3rd at 16 Tons Taphouse. We will be pouring 70 different Wild Ales! No entry fee, and cash only. The Fest will also mark our 4th Anniversary. Each year we have teamed up with a brewery to brew a very special anniversary beer that pays homage to a famous author. This year we are very excited to work with Breakside Brewery to create “Saison in Hell.” This years beer is a wild dry hopped saison that pays homage to Arthur Rimbaud, who is from the Ardennes Region where this working class beer was originated.

We are very excited to offer different beers from around the world at this event. We will have the Commons Fishing with Hallet, and Upright El Coloquio Cervantes, which have been our last two anniversary beers. We will be offering a few other Oregon gems such as Block 15 Wild Chardonnay Ale, Kriek, and debuting Crux Fermenation barrel aged Flanders Red ale!

Featured Breweries: The Commons, Oakshire, Upright, Block 15, Cascade, Deschutes, Hair of the Dog, Flat Tail, Logsdon, Breakside, Hanssens, Mikkeller, Jolly Pumpkin, Goose Island, The Bruery, Crux, Anchorage, Russian River, Stillwater, New Belgium and more!
