Really excited that Eric and Lauren Woods Salazar of New Belgium Brewing will be coming to the Fest to serve their Beers and talk about Wood Aging and Blending.
Eric Salazar, New Belgium Brewing Company
Eric is the Wood Aged Beer Specialist and a Cooperative Owner at New Belgium Brewing Company. He began his career at NBB in May of 1995 as a Packaging Operator in the old Train Station. He applied for the job after meeting several NBB workers at a party and they told him of low pay, fun times, 401K, and free beer; just what every 22 year old is looking for! He joined the Brothers of the Church of Fermentology (fermentation and filtration) in 1996 and then moved into a shared Brewer/Cellar Op position in 2000. He has been a part of the wood aged beer program at New Belgium Brewing Co. since 1997 and nowadays you will find him in NBBís vast Wood Cellar (4100 hl capacity and growing!), there youíll see where his true passion lies.
Lauren Woods Salazar, New Belgium Brewing Company
Lauren is the Wood Cellar Manager, Blender and the Specialty Brand Manager at New Belgium Brewing Company. She held the title of SensoryStaff Specialist from 1998-2012. Lauren focused primarily on sensory science, where she developed the sensory program from a basic production check to its present world-class program.
Another focus is the education of New Belgiumís sales staff and distributing partners in beer production and flavor profiles of craft beer.
Lauren is a judge at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival. She is a faculty member of Siebel Institute of Technology and has presented for the CBC, WBC, AHA, ASBC, MBAA and others conferences and associations with various acronyms.
Lauren received her BSW from the University of Georgia a lifetime ago and holds a Certificate from UC Davis for Applied Sensory Science and Consumer Testing.
We will be showing a new Swedish Brewery, Sahtipaja beers as well, from Gothenburg. Our good friend Timo Krjukoff has sent 20 liters of Old Bruin and his Raspberry Florida Weisse for you to enjoy, he is well known in the Tampa Beer crowd but will not be able to serve his beers this time around, but maybe next year!!
There will be a Keg of Westbrook Gose, and a case of Westbrook Gozu, we have a Keg of The Wild Beer Co from Englandís Grand Cru, a keg of Goose Island Lolita, and more to list!!
