The Good Beer Guide to Belgium Book Release Party: 35 Rare Belgian Drafts + Meet Coauthor Joe Stange!

On Saturday, July 12th, 2014, we are excited to welcome our old friend, and esteemed beer writer, Joe Stange to ChurchKey for a very special event. Joe and Tim Webb have just recently completed the 7th edition of The Good Beer Guide to Belgium, and, while it is now widely available in Europe, it has yet to officially released stateside. Beginning at 2 pm on the 12th, The Good Beer Guide will be available for purchase at ChurchKey, and Joe will be in the house to sign books, discuss the Belgian Beer scene, and toast some of the finest Belgian Ales available on draft!

Each edition of The Good Beer Guide to Belgium impresses with its unrepentant, honest and always cogent appraisal of the breweries, bars, restaurants and beers of Belgium, and the 7th edition is the finest yet. Roger Protz, the legendary British beer writer calls this edition a "tour-de-force" (Review here: http://protzonbeer.co.uk/reviews/2014/05/04/belgian-guide-now-it-s-the-magnificent-7th), and our very own Beer Director, Greg Engert, has contributed an introduction to the book.

To further celebrate the best of Belgian Beer culture, Greg has sourced 35 of the finest, most authentic, hand-crafted and small batch Belgian Ales on draft for this event. From Brussels we are pouring both Rosé de Gambrinus and Cuvée St-Gilloise from Cantillon, as well as four rare selections from De la Senne (Jambe-de-Bois, Taras Boulba, Zinnebir, Band of Brothers). We have Gueuze from Tilquin, Brett-influenced Porter from 3 Fonteinen (Zwet.be), barrel-aged rarities from Alvinne and Hof Ten Dormaal (Special 14 is a master blend of each barrel-aged beer they have released), as well as a host of dry Belgian Farmhouse Ales from the likes of De Ranke, De Glazen Toren, Dupont, Jandrain, Kerkom, Blaugies and Cazeau. West Flanders Strong Ales will be on hand with De Dolle Oerbier as well as De Struise Black Albert and Cuvee Delphine leading the charge; we are also debuting 3 brand-new De Struise brews for this event: Imperialist (Imperial Pils w/ Galaxy hops), Weltfreude (Sour Blond aged in Burgundy barrels with berries) and Weltkrieg (Sour Blond with cherries).

There is no admission fee for this event, and all books and beers will be priced individually beginning at 2 pm.
