The Official Washington DC Launch of Civil Life Brewing Company: 5 Casks, 5 Drafts & Brewer Meet & Greet!

Join us next Wednesday as we welcome The Civil Life Brewing Company, of St. Louis, Missouri, to our house. Established in 2011, The Civil Life focuses on classic, balanced, nuanced, and malt-driven ales, often inspired by the English tradition, and always impressive.

One of The Civil Life’s flagship beers, American Brown Ale, will be available three different ways: on draft plus two casks, each with a different dry-hop treatment. We’ll also be pouring their GABF Gold Medal-winning Rye Pale Ale two ways (draft of course, plus a cask version); coming in at 4.6%, this Pale Ale exhibits notes of subtle spice, caramel, black pepper, pine cones, and grapefruit zest.

On the heels of the Rye Pale Ale, we’ll also have Rye Stout on tap; the rye grain provides subtle spice, and--combined with the chocolate malt--a dark pumpernickel bread and burnt toast character emerges. On the stronger side we will have their Big American Stout, a brown, bready brew showing flavors reminiscent of dark stone fruit, walnut toffee, medium roasted coffee and dark chocolate.

Finally, The Civil Life Scottish Ale; a traditional Scottish Ale with the delicate twist of incorporating Cascade hops!

There is no admission fee for this event and all The Civil Life Drafts & Casks will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours.
