This Sunday the first Homebrew competition took place on the beautiful island of Evia, a couple of hours outside Athens. Unfortunately I couldnít leave Germany to be there but I will try and summarize it from what I was told.

The competition was organized by one of the most interesting and promising Microbreweries of Greece, Septem ( http://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/septem-microbrewery/10825/ ), and the leading on-line Beer Community in Greece : www.beer.gr

Septem Microbrewery was also the host of the competition. The judging panel consisted of Homebrewers, Beer enthusiasts (greek members of Ratebeer as well), Sommeliers and others.

25 where the entries submitted on time and the winner recipe will become Septemís new label !

The results are (Beer Number of the Blind tasting) - Style - Homebrewer - Score):

17Β - IPA - Panagiotis - 72.5%
20Β - Dry Stout - Steliospal - 71.8%
5B - American Wheat - Panagiotis - 67.54%
8 - Amber Ale - Lizard - 67.45%
18 - American IPA - Delomixal - 65.13%
20A - Belgian Strong Ale - gertialex - 64.57%
14 - American IPA - Terry72 - 62.70%
12 - English Bitter - DIVER - 60.69%
7 - American Amber Ale - Beeroine - 60.52%
16 - American IPA - Steliospal - 60.2%
6 - Weissbier - Lord Byron - 59.00%
11 - Premium Bitter - Terry72 - 57.08%
13 - English IPA - Terry72 - 57.04%
9 - Ruby Red Ale - leftersm88 - 54.66%
2 - ? - tryfoinos - 54.24%
3 - ? - tryfoinos - 53.11%
1 - ? - tryfoinos - 52.26%
15 - American IPA - brewkolakas - 51.39%
5 - Lemon Wit - Steliospal - 51.06%
10 - Irish Red Ale - gertialex - 49.91%
4 - Blond Ale - lefterism88 - 46.97%
19 - Red IPA - lefterism88 - 39.58%
17 - American IPA - Lord Byron - 25.59%

Panagiotis was one of the favorites to win the competition as he constantly produces high quality beers. His American IPA will therefore be the next beer produced by Septem. he laso scored third with his second beer an American What. Stelios came (close) second with a 5,8% Dry Stout.

Everybody was pleased with the competition and the hosting by Septem, and are already looking forward for the next competition.
