Interesting List, but not a single Brodie’s beer makes me think |
And no Kernel -___- |

Some decent stuff on there, but they could have got some people other than the usual suspects to choose beers. |
They do a top 50 of something every week. Last one for beer was about 3 years ago which was hopeless. This one is slightly better, I give it 16/50 |
Actually I’d revise to being happy with 19 of those 50 beers as long as they were cask. I’d take the Fullers Vintage Ale and Guinness FES in bottle. At least it’s better than their previous go that had way too much boring beer. But any list that has Innis and Gunn in a top 50 is just so wrong....... |
Good beers must not be always rare and expensive… I ttotally agree with the mentioning of Schiehallion and Taylor’s Landlord… |

As said in response to this list somewhere else. "Everyone loves Sam Smith’s." Er, no. |
Originally posted by GT2 Judging from all the links, it seems they have restricted the list to beers that are available in bottle and for sale online. Which doesn’t seem the greatest basis for selecting a top 50 of British beers. |
Originally posted by GT2 A lot of UK beers are ’rare’ insofar as they are hard to find beyond the region in which they are produced. The Kernel, for example, still seems to focus mostly on London, and before they expanded their brewing capacity in March this year, there were really only a select few places where you could find their beers. Similar story for Brodies, except where The Kernel sells tons of bottled beer, which allows them to spread their distribution, Brodies definitely emphasize draft beer, which usually gets sold at one of their three London locations. Interestingly, because of BrewDog’s multiple bars around the UK and their online shop, their beers are probably more easy to procure than most other UK breweries. So, it seems like a lot of the selections on this list are beers that have pretty wide distribution, and which hence could likely be more relevant to this paper’s average reader who wants find one of these beers. But yeah, any top UK beer list from me would be dominated by The Kernel, and most of the Magic Rock roster would be on the list, too. |
