Does anyone else find this article a little dramatic? In particular the last sentence, "prices could continue to rise until $50 or $60 bottles are the norm.". If I can buy one and a half bottles of actual Wild Turkey (Rare Breed, Russell’s Reserve, and so on) or have a single bomber of RAR Whale Imperial Stout Aged With Vanilla why would I ever take the risk? I’d either switch to bourbon exclusively once I got tired of sub 6% beers or spend my money elsewhere. |
Give me a nice cheap (meaning low price here) session beer and to hell with hipterism and snobbery. I´m just tired of this crap about the humblest and the greatest beverage of them all. |
Nah, the high prices of limited release bourbon turds are a fad that will die out. There are equally good bourbon-barrelled stouts for cheaper, and plenty of awesome stouts that don’t bother with the barrel which are also cheaper. Once the excitement of spending 60 dollars and a lot of effort acquiring a stout that’s not as good as the Narwhal (or whatever) you could have got round the corner for a few bucks, wears off, people won’t bother. |

I’m just drinking Orval. Whatever on this stuff. |

There’s no women on these forums, I’m outta here. |
Originally posted by AdamChandler #3, beer is the new winer? I’m fine with this, but there are some good wines under 20 dollars. So the 50 to 60 dollars beer, you can stick it up your... |
