I went through my early beer geek phase with the DIPAs and imperial stouts and ultra-high ABV monsters. But now they’re all the same, just gimmicks. Now that I’m more experienced, I recognize many of them for being the flawed bullshit that they are.

IMO, the ultimate goal in brewing is to "delight" the drinker with aroma, appearance and taste...but not assault their tongue, brain or wallet!!!
