FYI, to the folks who were there. . . The beer we had was the "Brewer’s Blend" of BA Speedway Stout, meaning that it was barrel-aged and then a portion of straight Speedway was blended back in, to taste. And then it was cask-conditioned. And then we drank it. And then we beergasmed. |
Wow sounds awesome! |

And oh yeah, by the way. . . I tried a "Randal 2.0"-type experiment of adding some fresh ground Panama Esmeralda Geisha coffee to a pour of the Speedway cask, then letting it cold-steep for about 10 minutes before drinking. |
good god that beer was divine. stouts like speedway just beg for the creaminess given by natural carbonation. |
Still available at Beacwhood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach as of closing time last night. Seriously contemplating heading down there for a pour or few.... Damn the hour+ drive each way. |
We had the BA Blend at the Firestone Int BF in June and it was great. |
Damn I thought it was just normal speedway so scrolled past doing my tick frenzy. Oh well, I’m probably moving to California soon anyway ;) |
Originally posted by GT2 The one on the bus was yet another tick altogether. Brewers Blend with vietnamese coffee. Hopefully you got that one at least. |
Definitely had a few pours of that. :D |
Originally posted by GT2 dude it *said* BA speedway, and on CASK motherfucka, isn’t that enticing enough to make you grab a glass? I’ll try almost anything on cask, there are times the texture is so astoundingly better than CO2 tap and bottle that it’s worth forgetting the rates for a sec for the chance to try what may be an amazing version of a beer you’ve had multiple times in the past. |
